Recommend me some new boxsets!

  • Chuck
  • Weeds

Just a couple more for you. As above, Dexter, West Wing etc are all awesome.

I know you say you don't like sci-fi but how about Taken? I found the way it was done was excellent, following three families across 50+ years.

I seriously recommend the X-Files if you like that sort of thing - nice long boxset with 9 series which also includes the X-Files movie as well! It's old now but still one of the best TV series ever whether you're a believer in that kind of thing or not.

Right now I would say Castle - it's just so addictive - wanting to see Nathans twists and turns with the character!

True Blood is another very good show - well worth grabbing on bluray if you can.

The Wire
The Sopranos

The Wire is the best series I have ever watched, very gripping. The storytelling, layout of the plot and character development is all quality.

I just saw part of an episode of Brotherhood. It's about two Irish-American brothers, one a politician the other a gangster. It looks really interesting, I might give it a go.

Wow, some stuff in here that ive net even heard of! Ive got prison break to see what thats like, then I think ill give dexter a go as that looks really good :)

Californication. Probably my favourite series of all time to date.

I'll also agree with Weeds. Excellent character development.

Carnivale. Only two seasons but excellent story.

The Mentalist.

Prison Break season 1 was awesome, season 2 was ok, after that I would say don't bother, it's rubbish :(

Dexter is probably my all time favourite series to date, everyone i've recommended it to has loved it :)

The Mentalist.

Carnivale was so weird but such a well put together show, right mix of freaky, great acting, story and cast to make it work, with the wrong cast and a bad director it could have been a complete disaster but turned out brilliant.

Just a shame the main guy who was truly brilliant, went on to do Terminator 3 and become a joke. :p

NYPD Blue is mostly fantastic, if you can find it, only ever had a few seasons released on DVD and was shown in such a sporadic way in the UK.

Life is fantastic, shame its not going any further, great cast, great idea, they're always the things that get canceled.

Burn Notice, Californication, Entourage maybe? If you like the main guy in Burn notice, try the american Touching Evil, he's absolutely brilliant in it, dark styled detective in it with a pretty decent spin, everyone should watch it.

Can't quite decide if I like Man Men, smartly made, some good actors, its very interesting (if accurate) to see how different life was not too long ago and to see a change in culture over the period, I just can't decide if the actual stories and people are really all that interesting or not.

Kings was really great, though based around religion, it wasn't preachy or really god-ish, he was almost a character but in a decent way, very hard to explain. Fantastically made show, some good stories, very strong cast, I think a very interesting idea and well worth trying for a few shows.

Mercy, pretty much a rip off of Nurse Jackie(also worth watching) but longer, decent characters, and funny.

Huff was a pretty decent show.

Not the same genre, but most people who like those types of shows also tend to be into US comedy type shows, Parks and Recreation, The office, Communities, Modern Family are all very good comedies. Better off Ted aswell.

Dead Like Me was another great series, with a truly awful follow up film you should NOT watch if you want to remember the series fondly ;)

Just started watching Castle. Up to the seventh episode now. It seems ago, liking the chemistry between the main leads. It does seem to fall under the same kind of category as White Collar, The Mentalist, Shark, Life, Bones etc. A super person brought in to solve the cases.

EDIT: Add numb3rs to the list as well.

EDIT2: Sons of Anarchy is pure awesome, love it when they all gear up and go and kick arse. A Town Called Eureka (Eureka in America) is also really good. I am glad it has been picked up for a forth series.
