I still love it's look though, and with a decent bodykit it's ferocious

A BMW 540i is a 4.4 litre engine with 286bhp, dont see the problem really?
Americans have been known to not service their engines.
AT ALL.
It can make that 300bhp all day every day and not blink at the sight of the arizona desert, or the sub zero temps of vancouver, and it will do it all without being serviced and providing the sort of lazy power delivery ford's customers want.
Ford can and have built a much better V8 this year, the only reason they have now is because they've had to. Before that they could just over engineer the thing and sell it on and not worry about fuel usage etc.. Now they've had to make the engines more efficient etc.. the power has gone up.

Indeed, ive just been reading about the new 5.0 litre v8 and it's such a marked improvement, they've gone all out with updating the rest of the car too to improve handling and the interior has been rehauled too (MUCH NICER, doesn't look so cheap and tacky anymore). I think this is the one to get!
