While I don't think it is (fit and finish aren't up to it), there's been plenty of talk of apple exec's having devices well before release in the past and I suspect there are people carrying around prototypes of the next iphone as it's difficult to work out all the day to day usability issues in a lab.

Yep, that is deffo looking like the device in Jamal's second link above. The entire device doesn't adhere to Apple's design style though, which is rather odd in the first place.

I am more about hardware tbh so I couldn't care less what it looks like. It looks fine tbh. The photos of that device 'found' in San Fran do look like a HTC model I agree.

Either it's real and somebody wanted it to be seen, or it's fake and somebody wanted people to think it's real.
