Student loan! what should i buy?

I don't have any money left to buy things with my student loan. In fact, it only covers my accommodation (£4000/year). I have to find money for food myself from working. All because it's based on my parents wages who I don't even speak to anymore.

Got to be 25 to be declared independent though.

student loan is a joke.

I get absolutely **** all from them, the absolute bare minimum.

Yet a chap I know gets the FULL grant and maintainence loan, even though he went to a private school all his life.

With his private school education he managed to get decent grades. Our uni gives a bursary of 1000 for certain grades.

And since he is in reciept of a full grant, the uni gives him a bursary of 1000......

Oh did I mention his parents are paying his accomodation.

****es me of no end.

I would imagine this is the amount they give you including paying for your tuition fees. So take roughly ~£4000 off then see how much you have left, which is what you will get directly paid to you.

That probably includes the tuition fee which you wont see a penny of, you have to pay for accomodation as well.

After accom and tuition you should still get about 85 a week, plus bursaries etc.

My mate got £15k from a student loan. He spent it all in 4 months.
Ill be taking out a student loan for next year at college so i can stick it in my savings account and spend it when i need to. I pay £140 on buses every month and about £50 a month on food. so thats £2280 just on the basics at the most. The £15k will have to last me 4 years at the most. Yeah i have a job but i dont think 15k is a lot..especially when your car insurance/course fees will take up all of it.

i don`t drive to college because my dad uses the car to his work but i pay the insurance because its my car + no where to park it. Unless i pay the £1.50 for the carpark what is on the opposite side of the town

Get a bike?
The buses sound very expensive

it used to be £1.20 a fare there and £1.50 back...now its £3 there and £4.10 back.

I have my bike licence but i cant get a bike because i already have a car. cant afford both. Car is more practical.

Your student loan sounds like it works completely differently in Scotland, they would never give you 15k lump sum in England.

its complicated. Some people get it and some dont. I cant tell you a lot, i just went to my student advisor and he looked over my record for other things and he said i can apply.

Thats where ill have to go to get my finance.

Set up a bar, then you'll be a cool and as drunk as i am

Then invite everyone to play poker with you twice a week, get them drunk, win the money from them, and then re-stock the bar
