Why the measly warrantee on graphics cards?

I can help but notice that on a £350+ graphics card there’s only a 2 or 3 year warrantee. I was just about to purchase a Sapphire 5870 vapourX graphics card when I noticed that it only had a 2 year warrantee.

What happened to the graphics cards with 10 year or lifetime warrantees?

BFG were one of them but they don't operate in europe anymore only one left is evga with the 10 year warranty but they only do nvidia cards

both my bfgs are 10 year warrenty, i doubt few pc gamers keep there cards longer then 2-3 years though.

People abusing them (like BFG's warranty) by killing them and RMA to the manufacturer to get free upgrade replacement, leading to them make such a loss and forced them to leave UK/Europe.

Yeah, I love the warranties too. Was the main reason I got my GTX 295 from EVGA - even if it breaks 6 years down the line they have to replace it with the same card (unlikely any will be left) or a newer card of equal or better performance (yay).

Unfortunately BFG (who also provide ace warranties) have now left the European market, and EVGA seem to be sticking with Nvidia Graphics cards for the time being.

A 2-3 year warranty may not set the world alight, but it is comparable to most other consumer electronics.

There's also the fact that graphics cards are breaking more frequently, due to the eco-communists banning lead solder. A lot of people also just buy the most expensive cards without bothering to research if their case airflow is good enough to provide a suitable environment for the thing. And running them on cheap tat noname brand PSUs. The designs have also gotten way more complex, making QA harder.

Considering these things, even 10 years seems unsustainable.

Zotac do five years with Nvidia, Asus is best for ATI with three, three is more than enough.
