The 8 pin power on the PSU is split into 2 connectors but the second one (left socket) doesn't fit into my motherboard (ASUS P6TD)

The motherboard's connector has a blanking plate over the left hand side of the 8 pin socket, so I am just running with one of the connectors (4 pin).

Is this right.

Running the same board and psu here, simply remove the small plate covering the 4 holes on the atx socket, then plug the other 4 connectors in.

The 4 pin blanking plate simply slides out, long finger nails certainly help to remove it as they can be quite tightly fitted.

I have the same PSU and effectively the same board - it will work.

As setter says, remove the piece of plastic that is covering the 4 pins. Then join the 2 4pin connectors together (they click together) and insert it into the 8 pin socket in the correct orientation - so the hook thing meshes with the catch.

I got it in :D

I don't know why it wouldn't fit when I first built it (yes I removed the blanking plate before) maybe I was too excited to get going.

It's been running with 4 pins for 3 months.

I wonder what the difference will be? if any.

Thanks chaps.
