Hi all,

I'm going to be on a short break with the missus to London on May 2nd, 3rd and 4th. We're going to see the Lion King on the Tuesday night, with a 2 course meal at the Buddha bar thrown in. With the exception of that I've not arranged anything to do.

Now being a tight Scottish guy and not having been to London in 11 years, does anyone have any recommendations for things to do while we're there?

I'm trying to stop myself from blowing a fortune, so good value things would be appreciated.

Walk along the South Bank if the weather's nice, visit the Tate Modern (free entry).

All the major London sights are actually pretty easy to walk to, you don't need to keep hopping up and down the Tube.

I always liked Covent Garden for a mooch about the market and the street performers.

Similarly Camden - get off at Chalk Farm tube stop (Northern Line?) and walk south through the Stables market and all the other interesting shops - lots of tat but it's amusing enough for an afternoon!

The Trocadero used to be good fun for gaming and funtimes but this was yeeaaaarrrrs ago.

Finally Hamleys and Harrods are worth a visit if only to play with the toys and goggle at the food hall :)

You could stand at the window of an exclusive restaurant and watch people eating the wonderful food? :D

Is it bad that my eyes saw this and I instantly thought you had spelt Google wrong? :o

Damn Google.

National History museum and theALbert and Victoria Museum are goo for the day, and free. Lots of walking, but well located and good to get to on the tube.

If you're doing one musical, then consider a second, Chicago is excellent. tickets available almost each evening from a boxoffice for a fair bit off, and better seats and seat upgrades for free if the place isn't full. It's well worth it. Couple of nice pubs around there (seven spires or similar) also, so you can get a quiet drink beofre and or after the event.
