Asus rampage III Extreme

Because not everyone can get their 2000mhz ddr3 to perform at that speed. Also according to a review Anand did a while back. 1333mhz and 1600mhz ddr3 at cas 6 and 7 beat out faster 2000mhz at cas 8. Seeing as the memory controller is on the cpu, pure memory speed probably doesn't factor as highly as it did in the past.

Ive now seen it listed at £283 elsewhere, but they dont take pre-orders ....

To cancel, or not to cancel, that is the question.

Aye and €300 elsewhere lol retailers making their extra bit of readies lol but of course it's all the manufacture's fault ;)

The problem is that the price might change once they arrive in stock, lots of places list low prices when OOS, but dont allow pre orders.

What if I add 12 GByte (2x Corsair 16000C8)? Will I be able to achieve these speeds?

Should be ok but I’ve seen on a Corsair forum that you may have to run them at a lower speed if the modules aren’t matched, so best check with Corsair support, they are very good.

Do you really need 12GB when 6GB will do for 64bit windows? You may also have a problem with the DIMM socket(s) closest to the CPU in that it may be blocked by your cooler/fan if you go air cooled. The cooling fins may also cause a problem with your cooler/fan.

Anyone got any update on release dates? The only release date that seems reasonably valid is 07/05/2010. Anyone else got any info? - Getting fed up with waiting... :(

Im wishing that I will be able to run my Ram on its XMP setting =D

2133 Mhz, but it sets the QPI to 1.4v which I dont think is safe for LGA1366, so I would have to reduce that to 1.35v.

A new review at the Guru of 3D.

Hey!? - "To get it some additional PCIe bandwidth we spot an NF200 bridge chip allowing your run up-to four graphics cards in PCIe x8 mode.
"

I didn't think they had an NF200 chip?

EDIT: Also not the "Rev.2.xx" thing in the screenshot, obviously the manufacturing change VK was on about.

Hmm, my sample was a Rev.2.xx as well and that was the second one to be sent out here. Guru3d is using a newer bios though.

Here's my screenshot: http://www.vortez.co.uk/contenttell...ampage_iii_extreme_motherboard_review,10.html

Also as you said, the board doesn't have an NF200 chip. It still only uses 32 pcie lanes for graphics cards. That's why using 3 cards, the board is limited to x16/x8/x8. Saying that, the x8 link width won't degrade performance significantly:

Ahhh ok, but yeah, strange that he actually quotes twice about an NF200 chip, and says how "we spotted a NF200 chip" yet he never bothers to show it in a picture lol.

I made sure to have a look myself but it didn't show the chip in the manual like it did for the Maximus III Extreme. And the fact that it goes to those link width configurations with extra cards proves that.

One gripe I have about the review is that he calls the RC TweakIt utility a gimmick. It really isn't and the review on OC3D will agree with me.

Can't wait for this motherboard to be released, I have all the bits for my new kick ass system but not the motherboard..... come on asus

Parts for my new system:-

Intel Core I7 980X Extreme
Corsair Dominator GT 6GB 2048MB 2000Mhz 8-8-8-24
Asus GTX 480
Noctua NH-D14 (Maybe watercooled - Haven't decided yet)

So come on, Need this board now.............
