I would very much appreciate some help for a new build im putting together. I don't have a massive budget so I appreciate any suggestions.

I already have a HD, Windows 7 Retail, Corsair 400w PSU and a DVD-RW.

I need:

Processor
Motherboard
RAM
Case

I would like to be gaming in the future but I can settle for integrated graphics for the moment while I save up for a stand alone card such as a 5770.

£400 Budget.

Thanks.

ok so i put some good stuff in the build, like an am3 board and a phenom II processor, i was going to put an aftermarket cpu cooler in there but remembered u needed a case, theres enough for a 5770 aswell, the set up should run most new games on high settings i guess.

Wouldn't this motherboard be better for just £2 more?

It has xfire support as well as onboard graphic.

I'm not sure that is better value for money to be honest s452...

This is my effort:
CPU: Phenom II X4 955BE £135.99
Memory: Geil Value 4GB DDR3 £88.98
Motherboard: Gigabyte MA785GT-UD3H £74.98
Graphics Card: Club3D 5770 £112.99
Case: Coolermaster Elite 360 £24.99

Total: £449.68 including postage

If you aren't such a name snob when it comes to the GPU, it means that with a little extra budget, you can afford a 955BE - which far outperforms either the i3 530 or the 550BE. The Geil memory runs tight C7 timings, which seem to make more of a difference than memory speed.

Like s452's suggestion, this is overbudget, but it'd definately be worth the extra - for longevity if nothing else.
