Mercedes SLK 280

A modicum of comfort and refinement when it's cold and miserable out :p

Really didn't enjoy the MG this winter, even with the hard top. The last few weeks though and a bit of sun it starts to make sense again. ;)

I do realise though that this is an MG we're talking about here.. ;)

This one would have been ideal but still not overly keen on even those AMG Alloys

That is BEAUTIFUL!

And has everything I'd choose if I was ordering new including colour combo!

It has 18 inch wheels and sport suspension. I would really urge you to try that combo out on our pothole ridden roads, its not comfortable day in day out.
Also they didn't spec bluetooth phone? Or can I just not see it?

Even though the 350 is meant to be by far the better car, for some reason I really (really) want an SLK55. Still stupidly expensive though.

Sorry, went off on one there. Carry on.

Bluetooth was not an option, the option is Telephone Pre Wiring and then you add the Bluetooth cradle. The standard Blietooth didn't come in till the 08 Facelift.

That car has the option 'Sports Package' which includes those wheels, lip spoiler, Nappa leather, red seat belts, induction kit, lowered, and sporty mats.

Makes it a good looking and sounding car indeed, definatey something to consider if you can't find one with AMG kit.

With regards to the Sports suspension, it's only 15mm lower and barely makes any difference in day to day driving (with or without pot holes)

Yeh this is what I meant, the puck in the armrest. :)

yup thats the one - great fun gunning the engine to hear the exhaust note

For the SLK owners here - my mum has one, and the center cubby hole (the one inbetween the seats, behind gearstick) is shut and wont open!

is it a lockable compartment? If so is there any kind of override to it?

New type SLK or old type?
There is a thing you push in sideways inside the cutout and the armrest opens sideways?
Or are you talking about something else?

Just south of Guildford, lovely drive round Shamley Green, Cranleigh, Dunsfold etc. Ended up at Chris Evans' pub The Mulberry in Chiddingfold for late lunch then back up home via Hindhead, Frensham and Farnham. Gorgeous day

You must know Shere then - ex Stig owns my old pub there :D

Ahem, as you were ;)

New one - I beleive it locks when the car is locked, but when you unlock the car it stays locked!

I assumed it opens upwards, is that not the case? She hasnt opened it since last summer, and cant remember!

Basically you put your finger in there, and then open it sideways (as opposed to front to back like normal ones) to get the top half open.

To be fair, I hardly sit in the thing so I don't know whether it locks.

Yes thats the one, but it doesnt budge at all. When you say sideways, do you mean it tilts toward the door rather than the rear of the car?

Ah depends on whether the car has telephone pre wiring or not, if not then it will open sideways (towards either door) if it doesnt it will open towards the boot.

But the car must be unlocked.
