i havent been on the bus for ages and i was shocked to find out its £2.50 each way now

tomorrow i have to go somewhere and its 2 busses there and 2 back, does anyone know how much a 1 day bus pass costs in london? :p
a tenner for 4 bus rides is extortionate

What zones do you need to travel in? The more zones it needs to cover the more it will cost.

Get a temporary oyster card and bang a tenner or something on it. You can then return it for a refund, including unspent credit.

Just get an oyster card. It will cost £3 more than buying a day travelcard but you'll need one in the long run and you can beep on like all the cool kids:)

EDIT

With an Oyster it's £1.20 for each bus journey with a £3.90 daily cap.

I don't think you can get a one day bus pass in London so an Oyster is your best bet

That's pretty cool, didn't realise it was capped lower if you only take bus. Therefore... Definately get an oyster.

only 6 and 7 :)
i was thinking of a oyster card but i dont use public transport enough to need one ;)

thats not really a valid reason to not have an oyster though... Doesnt expire as long as its used once in a 2 year period or something silly?

When did that happen? I grew up in London and used to be in bus zone 5/6 having to buy passes accordingly.
I'm not doubting you, just surprised!

Can't answer when it happened, but can confirm that there are no zones, eg:

If I travel from Hounslow East to Angel (on Tube), I'm going from Zones 4 to 1,
If I get a tube from Hounslow East to Heathrow, I'll get charged outside my normal Z1-4 weekly pass (Heathrow is of course in Z6),
But I can get a bus from Hounslow to Heathrow at the standard rate and not be charged any more for it.

Have to say I'd certainly recommend the Oyster for daily travel, even if you don't intend on using the Tube, it's the added convenience of knowing you can use it at no extra charge.
