I read somewhere, on here about how it was wished that some of the classics were updated and brought into line with modern HD graphics, High Res etc…
I actually think this is an excellent idea, and already we’ve seen –
Monkey Island 1 and now Monkey Island 2 being updated to full talky (it was called talky version back in the day when graphic adventures moved from text based to speaking) with HD graphics.
Tomb Raider 1 was redone and released as Tomb Raider Anniversary, and it was actually a rather fanatic idea as the updated high res graphics combined with the game play of the 1996 classic proved to be an excellent combination.
But its an excellent idea was even though I’m getting older and might have played these games well before some of you had been born (hey I kid not). Monkey Island was released back in 1990 ?? some younger gamers weren’t even born till 1995 etc… and yet these new gamers can now enjoy Monkey Island in full high res graphics and actually get the game working in windows 7 or even on an Xbox without a need for some special emulator…
Just think, classics like Wipe Out 2097 or Resident Evil 1 with a new graphics refresh, and not only could older gamers enjoy their past memories in new glorious HD but younger gamers could get the sample just what the older gamers used to play before the new breed of FPS games came along..
I reckon refreshing older games with high res graphics would be a right little money spinner for some publishers, shame its not being done to any great extent..
