OcUK Silverstone Supercars (FIA GT1) Weekender - 30/04 to 02/05

The track is locked down tight at the moment, most of the best spectator areas are closed off due to the redevelopments.

The GT weekend is the first time they will be using the new GP layout, hopefully the new areas will be accessible by then.

I'll be down there on the Saturday and Sunday; sadly I've decided I'm too wimpy to camp out at the start of May (alomst froze to death the last time I was there with OcUK!!) so I've got a hotel booked :D - hopefully will see some familiar faces wandering around.

Put me down as a maybe, if I can string the funds together, I've purchased far to many toys this month :P

Dates: Friday 30th April to Saturday 2nd May

I think Sumo Power GT got 12th and 16th in Abu Dhabi which isn't great, but I think is impressive for a starting team.

Some of the qualifying was quite impressive, lets hope they go from strength to strength.

Roll on Silverstone.

Myself a and a few mates are heading up on the Sunday. First time I've been to Silverstone and I'm off to see the F1 there in July so will be a good chance to get my bearings etc.

Was a very good result against a lot of established teams to be honest, the Corvettes/GT/Masers have been around for a couple of years already and so are well understood. Looking forward to seeing them!

TBH, if the acusations in that protest are correct then they should protest. The Ford GT romped away in the race with a rookie driver in it...

But protest, dont just not turn up... They should be making the Ford, Nissan and Lambo better, seen as they are the new generaton cars, wheras the Astons, Corvettes and Massers are no longer eligable and wont be around next year.

The series has been designed to provide close racing ala BTCC, so cars considered to have a performance advantage are ballasted to reduce it, they also play around with the air intake restrictors to reduce/increase power etc. There is also success ballast etc, so if you win a race more weight will be added to the car for the next round and so on.
