Hi ... i've just purchased this camera and everything is great apart from shooting movies in HD. When zooming in or out you can clearly hear the lens motor - like a muffled electric razer on the movie soundtrack.

Is this a known problem? ...... because i'm tempted to get the camera exchanged tomorrow......

Yeah, I concur!!

I've just ordered this camera and I've read just about every review out there and pretty much all have said the zoom is silent! Looks like you might have picked up a dodgy one!

I'll let you know if I have the same problem when I get mine later this week!

...well i've exchanged the camera today, so when the battery is charged i'll check to see if theres no noise using the zoom .... fingers crossed.

I find I can hear it on mine, if filming a quiet scene but if there is some more background noise it's fine.

Camera adjusts the microphone sensitivity depending on noise levels.

I'm sure there is an option to cut out wind noise etc which may also cut out the noise made by the zoom in quiet situations, worth a try?

Well the replacement camera is the same..... like you say it's very audable when fliming in a quiet scene , in my case my garden ....

I tried the windcut option on mine, could still hear the zoom in quiet surroundings.. oh well.

Don't use mine much for vids and if I do it's usually in noisier situations so can't say it bothers me much but can see how it could be annoying.
