The optional payment protection that Barclaycard slap onto your credit card bill, anyone know if you need this service? I thought that a standard (without all of the additional crap) CC would suffice if you needed to make a claim?

The payment protection is insurance to cover sickness and unemployment etc I thought?

Were you aware you would be paying for this?

I imagine that these days, when signing up for credit cards, you sign up for their respective card protection also unless you tick a box opting out.

If you're confident that you will always pay it off fully or manage your debt properly, then no. You don't need the insurance.

On a Barclaycard related note - what's all this freedom reward crap? From what I can tell it's cashback but only for/from certain shops.

Any idea how you can cancel it?

Yeah I just had a browse through it, doesnt seem worth while to me

Get rid of it unless you have a genuine reason for wanting it. I've got a Barclaycard and they pay me every month (cashback), not the other way around.
