James Bond 23 production 'on hold'

The change of style with Daniel Craig has all been fail.

Pierce Brosnan = best Bond.

Goldeneye is my favourite bond film, just the right amount of seriousness. The Craig ones have just felt way too serious more like Bourne than Bond.

Well i really like Casino Royale but i wasn't overly impressed with quantum and i will still be happy to see Daniel Craig come back.

This.

Brosnan for me was the best Bond i think next to Roger Moore...didnt think much of Connery tbqh...but in my mind Brosnan for me is the closest real life resemblance to a James bond type of character.

/end all threads on Bond:p

Watched half of Casino Royale before turning it off, did not like, Daniel Craig is not Bond how on earth he got that gig I will never know, they should have gone to the direction of Bourne films not even seen the latests Bond film.

Good, the last two were bloody awful.

Only two? Frankly Bond's been nothing short of abysmal since Goldeneye.

Brosnan is just a good actor, more than capable of playing that role but the scripts for the films after Goldeneye are a joke.

Brosnan though is too old to do it again, Craig is terrible in the role but they seem set to continue to try and be hip and Bourne-y rather than old Bond style.

Even though the last two films have sucked I'd say the last couple Brosnan did were worse because everything about them was laughably bad. Casino Royale was a horrible story for a Bond film but was better than the previous two shambolic outings, but Quantum was just ridiculous start to finish.

I can't see any chance now for Craig + Bond and a good film being made. Need a new Bond, a new team making them, a new company backing them and a decent villian.

Give it a few week and it'll be continuing production with another studio.

Craig is a superb Bond, miles better than the last, even with only making just two films.

I actually like most/all Bond films, although some of the gadgets got somewhat annoying in some of the relatively recent films. The departure from the "traditional Bond" when Daniel Craig came in was quite refreshing, to me... although I completely love the Bourne trilogy, so I'm going to bum anything which moves towards that style.

Personally, I just treat each actor's stretch in the role as distinct packet within a larger thing...

This essentially.

I really liked the last two bond films because they went back to the Dalton era however they need to get a bit more gadgety, not to the point of the laughable Die another Day but something like Goldeneye or even OHMSS (it's a very under rated bond film IMO). The Brosnan era peaked with Tomorrow Never Dies and then went downhill rapidly with TWINE and DAD.

I agree though the Brosnan is pretty much what you would expect Bond to be like in real life, a bit non descript and able to fit into any situation but still kill easily. Craig looks like Gollum and sticks out like a sore thumb. I think Brosnan playing Bond in the last two episodes would have been perfect, which is actually pretty much the Dalton films (Dalton was another that fitted the part perfecly IMO).

Hopefully everything gets sorted out. I really want to see another.:(

Most of the Bond films are bloody awful compared to the books they're based on. It's all comic book villains, silly gadgets and big set pieces. Fair enough, but not really anything like the material they're based on. Casino Royale was muc closer to the style of the books, and Craig was good as Bond. Bond in the books isn't all suave and smooth talking and gung-ho - he's much quieter and more calculating. That being said QoS was rubbish.
