collection of WW2 colour footage.

Fascinating Great War pics.
The colour gives it a realism I haven't seen before and makes it more sad as I don't feel as detached from the men in the pictures.
I wonder if there are any non French pics that have had the treatment?
WW2 has been done to death but I find the Great War much more fascinating as you can really see the gallant old world meet the technological, brutal new world so vividly.
Thanks for posting those pics.

How do they go about giving these photos colour? I think I am right in believing they didn't have the technology for colour photos back then, or am I being daft?

Cool pictures brings more vividness to them being in colour and as Parsley says any idea how they reproduce the colour from the B&Ws?

Although rudimentary colour photography did exist prior to the war, it's safe to say that these have been touched up into colour.
I believe that it is a combination of artist, computer and patience needed to colour photos and film. Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

Although color photography was around prior to 1903, the Lumière brothers Auguste and Louis, patented the process in 1903 and developed the first color film in 1907. The French army was the primary source of color photos during the course of World War One.
