Sold my porsche engine & box a few months back 28th feb 2010 to be precise (sold as seen, in the ad I didn't even claim it was a runner)

Last weekend get a PP dispute from the guy, claimed crank was well knackered needed new one claimed I'd said the engine had been reconditioned (which I hadn't btw) as I'm a genuine guy and got good money for it I said I'd go 1/2 on it, but asked him to send pics as I was begining to smell a rat.

Got them today opened pic - properties - date taken 25-6-2009 20:33

Good one

Good for you!
Seems FleaBay is mostly scamming and overpricing these days.
The original concept was great but it has become a cesspit now. Glad you have rumbled him.

i get that theres scamming but how can it be overpricing ? its an auction. aslong as 2 people are interest then its one of the best ways to find somethings worth/value

To be fair I'd say most people cba to set the date on the cameras properly, most pocket type cams I have come across have the date incorrectly set, as it's so rarely used.

I'm not suggesting the ebayer isn't trying to pull a fast one or not, however using the photo's time-stamp isn't proof of anything.

Sorry, I was unclear.
By overpricing I mean that unless something is used you can usually find it a good deal cheaper elsewhere. People are suckered into buying from FleaBay sellers because they think FleaBay=cheap when in reality they are getting fleeced.
For example, I just randomly typed CM690 there now and found a BuyItNow of £74.17 inc for a CM690, it's £59.98 inc here. The guy's got 11036 feedback so people are obviously buying from him at these crazy prices. The "FLEABAY EFFECT".

Except the OC one needs postage adding, cheapest 690 on there is £65, Oc can sell cheaper as they have less fees, eBay charge a hefty amount to sell for a business these das!

Postage is free at OC, and I was making the point that people are obviously buying at these silly prices otherwise he wouldn't have 11000+ sales.

No its not! Its only free as a perk to forum frequenters. They give you a discount.
Plus, the eBay one hasnt actually sold . . . . Its other items that make the money. Just because you do not like eBay, it is stiill unfair to make poor comparisons. That particular seller is also french, so the prices are extrapolated from the GBP-EUR exchange rate, although other sellers are selling for round about the same (and not selling). Just because it is listed . . . .
