I've played:

  • Probably them all :<

Can't think of anything to try, but I want an on-line game with a 'persistent' world. So an online game that isn't like TF2 or League or Legends etc.

My favourites were Anarchy Online, Everquest and Star Wars Galaxies - in that order.

What are you guys playing?

global agenda

its free up to lvl 15 and whilst a little closed off at the moment there is an open world to be added in the 1.3 patch

So many MMOs that I couldn't really list what I've played in total, but I have recently tried Global Agenda and for some reason it just wouldn't run at all well on my PC - first game I've ever had a problem with really.

Adding open world areas as an afterthought doesn't sound good though to be honest. They need to be designed that way from the ground up, not stuck in 3 months after release because no one likes the game the way it is.

You could try the free to play US version of D&D Online. I've been playing it for a few weeks now, it's not bad at all. It's packed to bursting too, which helps hugely in a game that really rewards grouping.

DDO:EU is very interesting yeah. I played it in beta but never got around to purchasing it.
I don't like F2P games, but I guess they still have the VIP subscription option, which is good!

The only thing I hate about DDO is picking which bloody class/multi-class to play !!!

Yeah, it's a nightmare for someone with Alt-itis :D

The whole item shop thing isn't too bad, you can get surprisingly far into the game without going near it. The community is surprisingly good too. Most of the worst quit after realising that :

1. you don't get xp for killing mobs
2. your health and mana don't go up by themselves during adventures
3. casters are weak as kittens at low levels, not walking guns.

Reading their reactions never gets old though :D

omg another 'Recommend me a mmo thread'

 I know. My advice would be to stay away from MMOs and try some recent SP/MP games - I have quit MMOs due to the serious lack of quality and over-priced subs. They just cant compare to other games.

Might also help if you list all of the MMOs you play. "Probably played them all" doesnt help us.

What kind of game do you prefer? Sci-fi? Fantasy? Theme specific e.g. Star Trek?

On a serious note, i'm playing...

-City of Heroes/Villains.
-Star Wars Galaxies.
-LoTRO.
-Champions Online.

SWG and CoH/V will be unsubbed when FFXIV comes out.

Still playing Champions Online? I tried to get back into it, but got bored before I even got to the new zone. Are you enjoying it?

I like it, find it enjoyable but the male character options are pretty poor compared to the female hairstyles and features. The skill paths i like, and the overall quests, areas and combat are decent as well, plus the graphics for the game fit it perfectly.

If CoH/V's graphical update is good [which comes out in 2 weeks time], i'll unsub CO and go back to CoH/V because imo it's better than CO.
