GTX 480 or ATI Radeon HD 5970

Two 5850's will offer similar performance to a single 5970, but the 5850's will overclock better and produce less heat. You also have a spare card should one of your GPU's die:).
I think he would prefer a 5970 on a single card since it would be less hassle, plus if he feel that 5970 is getting slow in the future, he would still have a PCI-E x16 slot free for adding a 5870/5970 to crossfire in the future.

dannywaugh1 if you need help with choosing components for your build, give us a shout and we can put some lists together for you.

BTW there is a problem with the ati 5xxx series of cards what i've been reading of in many forums also in this one, people are getting grey screen GSOD unstable cards. I've been trying to put a build list together myself and was going for a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5870 Vapor-X and i don't think the latest ati drivers have fixed the problem, after reading about the fault the 5xxx series as i'm thinking i'll be getting a nvidia card next of some sort, best to keep this in mind when picking dannywaugh1.

ahh nice find i will keep that in mind thanks!

yeah, that will be great if you can it will give me a idea of what i can get.

GTX 470 would also be a good choice too. Placed between HD5850 and HD5870 but often delivers higher minimum FPS (which is most important imo) and often competes with HD5870. It uses less wattage than a GTX280/285 in (measured in Furmark) and it's also more quiet than these to in load/idle.

I would get a i7 930 OC it to 4.2 -4.4Ghz and take duel 5850's you would get a lot more performance then what you are looking at.

Get a 480gtx if you dont mind the LITTLE BIT extra heat and power consumption. Its the fastest SINGLE GPU. And if you have the money, get 2 of them and 3 120hz monitors and have 3d surround :)

But other than that get a 5850. You can over clock it to 5870s speeds. It will play every game maxed and youll have eye infinity to play over 3 monitors or extended desktop :).
And its a lot cheaper. But i your wanting a 5970 or 480, this would be the best option because you can buy 2! 5970s have a lot of driver issues.

Are you familiar with overclocking or comfortable with overclocking the i7 930 yourself? If not, you can get a overclocked i7 930 4.0GHz bundle...but it will cost around £55-£60 more than buying the parts individually:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-044-OE

PSU you can go for the Antec TruePower New Modular 650W or 750W:

Harddrive you could go Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache:

And if you want better sound quality than the motherboard's onboard sound, you could get this:

If money is no issue, then I would suggest the 5970.

I would be hesitant to recommend the new Nvidias unless someone needed some specific feature that only those cards offered.

im not 100% sure on the new nvidia cards due to the heat and wattage they use but yet again i have seen some videos of what they can do and im impressed with them so far i just cannot decide.

the question you really should be asking yourself is if you do decide to go for a GTX480, how long is it going to be before you can actually get you hands on one, & are you prepared to delay your build for that long?.

5970 is £430 at the cheapest.

A pair of of GTX470s would cost around £450, and would probably be faster.

Guys OP wants info on the cases aswell that will fit those cards.

For mid tower : HAF 922 (I own one and it is amazing), Storm Sniper

For full tower : HAF 932, HAFX, Corsair 800D

Also have a look at HAF 912 aswell which will be arriving shortly in the market.

Yes I am fan of HAF series:cool:.
