GTA 4 1.060 patch...IT REALLY WORKS!

its being awhile is this the game thats full off hackers etc ?
it was the latest gta I bought btw.

What's wrong with GFWL? It does make transferring the savegames more difficult, but that shouldn't be beyond anyone. I have a retail release and it's never caused me any issues.

I subjectively noticed smoother gameplay with the new patch. Not to mention the shadows!

It provides no benefit for all the extra hoops it makes you jump through and often (for me at least) gets in the way of gaming much like Steam did in the early years.

What extra hoops? I've had to enter my CD-key in once, that's always been the case. You have to have another program installed on your PC, not at all uncommon with many games. It's never got in the way of me gaming. In fact, you don't even know it's there unless you get an achievement (which some people like) or you open it up deliberately. It also provides an easy mechanism to get the game patched automatically.

GFWL hasnt caused me any issues, Flatout, GOW, GTA and Dirt 2 all been fined and linked up to my XBL account......

I know it's there, it's another program running which I don't need. I tend to avoid games that shove stuff on the PC during install that I can't deselect or uninstall and still play the game afterwards. As far as I can tell there's no reason not to have an opt-out for GFWL, yet they make you use it.

It won't even run on my two Windows 7 PCs and I'll be honest I can't be bothered troubleshooting it, only GTAVI required it - why would I install something that has to run before I can run just one game? Hell if I pirated GTAVI I probably wouldn't have this problem.

Sounds like you should just stick to console gaming mate, PC gaming always has more intricacies to get your head around and sort out. There's not a compatibility issue with GFWL and windows 7, so I don't know where your problem arises. As above, it comes with many games now that I play, and I've never had an issue, nor do the vast majority of people. It certainly doesn't put me off buying a game.

As I said, loads of decent games come with ancillary software to enhance the experience, it's not rare, and you're really missing out on GTAIV, it's a great game on PC. Your PC should be able to handle running GFWL if it can play GTAIV!

you'll find far more people who dont have problems with GFWL than those that do, and those that do generally fall in to the 'i dont want it' catagory, normally accompanied by a load of spiel about how intrusive it is, how it gets in the way ect..when actually it isnt and doesnt.

but then i dont mind GFWL or steam.

what harm does it actually do. honestly? have you played batman on steam lol - you have to use both but it still just....works. you cant say it hogs up memory or cpu cycles so what is it? this is the age of quad cores and 8gb of ram, it's next to irrelevant.

i run with 2gb of ram and still find GFWL unintruisive. a lot of people just moaning for the sake of very little.

i find it especially ironic when they play through steam yet have a go about GFWL.

To be fair GTA4 was a bit of a fag to get going, I had to download GFWL as the version that came with it didn't work or something (might have been rockstar social club, can't remember, one of those pieces of tat).

In general with most of the DRM and extra shiznitz you get these days though, once you got it all up and running the first time, it's not much of an issue.

My internet was down about half a year ago. I thought 'Ah, lets get my steering wheel out and play some Flatout 3!'

Started it up, tried to log into GfWL and it obviously failed. But it meant I couldn't play my save game without being logged into that account. I could create an offline account and start a new game, but unsuprisingly that's not much use.

That's the only problem that I've had with it, though that's mostly because my connection is fairly stable. Otherwise, I would probably have many more issues. Oh well.
