Nipped upstairs to the loo, came out, looked out the window and the van is driving off! This cheeses me off cos he never even rang the doorbell. We got a doorbell installed cos you can't hear if anyone knocks on the door (in a porch).

As if that's not bad enough you can't bloody get hold of DPD. Off for a drive round the estate to see if he's still kncking about.

yea some are really bad and just want to finish the round as fast as possible while others are the exact oposite, i was once in the shower , heard a knock on the door and i managed to get out and wrap a towel around me and answer the door before the guy had even started to walk off.

once had a guy open the door and shout hello aswell dont know how long he had been knocking but i was busy upstairs tidying up so couldnt hear the door at all

DPD have been good, but one of OC's last delivery companies were dreadful, once I waited in all day for a delivery only to check online that I had been carded. Online it told me at what time I was carded and what time the parcel was checked back into the depot. It took the driver 9 minutes from my house to get back to the depot at 5pm on a friday in rush hour from one side of the city to the other.

Needless to say I was mad as the driver had obviously been no where near my house.

i'm waiting for a parcel too, it's very annoying having to walk down 2 flights of stairs and all the way out to the wardens lodge every hour to see if my name's on the door yet!

I want my new screen!! They dont usually accept 'computer components' for some reason too, so I think a trip to the depot will greet me any time today.

Why did you make this thread before doing this?

Cos I can, troll ;)

It's also highly unlikely I'd catch him and I didn't.

Normally DPD come here around 11 ish but he was early today. If they'd had a number where you could actually speak to someone they would probably have come back.

If I'm ever expecting a delivery, I put a note on the door for the delivery driver with my mobile number on it.

They always call if I don't answer the door :)

That's something I've wondered about doing, just in case I get an "early" delivery and I'm asleep at the time or something.

What put me off was whether they would actually call it.

I recently had a warranty replacement delivery from dell, and they came "early" morning, about 8 I think, but I was in bed at the time, so the guy called me and said he was trying to deliver my replacement monitor (the dell customer services had obviously given him my number) or something.

I always put a note on the door saying I'm in and to knock loudly which makes the dog go mental and therefore wakes me up.

Loving city link in new place. always seem to come around 10:30ish and If I'm out he comes back early evening. I assume on his way back to depot.

how come they dont phone before hand anyway? ive always found that wierd when you order something expensive from a proper store the delivery driver usually tends to ring and make sure someones home but when you spend 1k+ on computer bits they dont bother

I've never had problems with DPD. When my computer was being delivered it came a day early. Also the bloke came in the morning when no-one was in but came back later in the afternoon when someone was in.

Driver has no idea what he's delivering, they usually phone ahead if say it's Comet and their actual delivery drivers are bringing out a fridge etc

I also put my mobile number as my surname when I order things online, this way it gets on the printed out sticker

Its horrid you sit around like an excited kid waiting for you new toy to arrive and you miss them. I used go to the CityLInk Depo all the damn time.

I got really angry with them just before xmas (DPD) three times arranged a delivery, three times they apparently came to my house, knocked and left a note.

Completely my fault of course.

I didn't realize that they wouldn't park their van outside my house, approach using camoflague gear which is better than Snakes gear out of MGS4, and the "missed you" notes they used would vanish without a trace like the tapes in Mission Impossible.

In other words, there was snow, and they just drove right by three times, and eventually I had to go up and collect it from their depot.
