Spring Action Day Castle Combe this sat (24th)

Was just eyeing this up! I won't be tracking but I wouldnt mind a day in the sun, take a few nice snaps! Its looking increasingly like I won't be at Japfest (why did they schedule it the same day as the FA Cup final for gods sake!?!?!?) so i might pop down for this. Is it worth it even without track time?

With any luck my new induction kit will be on by then aswell.

Might pop along, girlfriends brother will be taking his 172 round the track and possibly showing up a lot of better metal (He's a local to coombe and is pretty impressive around it)

Is it worth it even without track time?

Definitely. It's always a top day out, with some good trade stands and plenty of metal to drool over. There are drifting demos too, and the track sessions are always fun to sit and watch :)

I'm sure I'll end up popping down then, provided the weather stays nice. No other plans this Saturday!

The Westfield club are going.... but we're not :(.

Would be... except the 'few days of work' the car went in for with the engine builder in October still aren't done :(... some of the guys excuses are gems though!

Given that we haven't seen it since October (including going over there to give him the new tax disc for it) part of me is wondering whether it's wrapped round a tree, or lent to his mate for racing somewhere!

Too many wannabe heros when it comes to the track time.

If it was closer than I would possible go for the day out, but definatly not on track.

Too many wannabe heros when it comes to the track time.

The action days used to be renowned for it but but it's nowhere near as bad now, there are less cars per session, and there are seperate sessions for beginners and 200+ bhp cars.

I am going, my car should be part of the UKSaabs stand too. Was originally going to run during the 12:45 session (all saab special) but a broken coil on the front left put pay to that. (ruddy potholes/speed bumps)

Drex, was this where you were drifting your red skyline last year? :) And that big drifting accident was?

Just got back, a great day as usual, weather was lovely (I got my traditional sunburned head). Really enjoyed my tack session, the Golf was great fun again, it handles so nicely with the 'tweaks' I've done, no understeer at all, in fact it's a little tail happy. Just how I like it :) . I even managed to overtake a couple of cars :D

Thought I'd killed it at one point though, on the second to last lap I mis-shifted from 4th to 3rd instead of fifth, I caught it quickly but half a lap later the oil warning light and buzzer came on, but the engine still sounded fine. I backed off (it was the last lap of the session anyway) and stopped, the engine was running and sounded fine apart from being a little tappety. I let it cool down, checked the oil level and it was fine, started it up again and it didn't sound tappety at all, in fact it's running sweet again.

I can only assume the oil got thin with heat (oil temps were pretty damn high), hence the pressure drop and top-end noise, and the mis-shift was a co-incidence. Running lovely again now though *shrugs*

I took my mini keyring-cam to get some on-board footage but...........forgot to press record. :o:mad:

Overall a great day, really enjoyed it

Just got back myself, great day out. The weather was glorious I spent most of my time just sat on the banks watching cars go round, hypnotising :p.

Didn't see any proper crashes, plenty of spins and one poor fellow in a Maserati Gran Turismo had a very hairy moment. Span on Folly iirc and had the whole pack behind him. For about 10s or so he was just stuck sideways on the corner with everyone passing him, must have **** bricks!

One very rapid B5 S4 Avante, lots of hatches stripped to their guts going round pretty nicely. Didnt see yours Drexel (I think!) but did see a lot of caged golfs and the like. Drift demos were sweet, the pink RX7 was stupendously powerful.

Good day, now I realise how close Combe is I think I'll end up their quite often this summer!

Interesting day, never been to one of these before. Think the next one will have supercars or did I not read that right? Anyway, got some snaps.

PS, anyone can tell me why I have a random black line in the pictures? They came from RAW files, but JPEGs don't seem to have that (camera saves in both formats). Any ideas?
