+1

Letters from Iwa Jima - Blu-ray/HD-DVD!!
Flags of our Fathers - Blu-ray/HD-DVD

9th Company - Russian Subtitled - truley awesome

Assembley - Chinse subtitled - awesome!

I strongly recommend these foriegn war films, they depict different wars and different ideologies, basicaly because they ain't american or holywood scripts which are predictable.

Band of Brothers

The PAcific

Heartbreak Ridge, not 100% war film but is brilliant non-the-less.

They are brilliant also.

I'll try to think of more.

I enjoyed Mongolia, not full on fighting but shows the rise of Ghengis Khan, which I didn't realise until the very end of the film rofl.

Also, Taegukgi is a good Korean war film.

Hurt Locker and Tunnel Rats (please note the last suggestion was in fact a joke and the film is pap).

A bridge too far? EPIC!

i have one called Max Manus (finish dude) film is okay.

Enemy at the gates?

plus a russian one

Paths of Glory, a Stanley Kubrick film.

i have seen this just the other month. not my fave film really...but its okay for the time, i guess.

What was that film where two opposing troops face each other, realise they're both out of ammo, then throw their helmets at each other? :p

EDIT: Ah, it was Saving Private Ryan. :D

best war film ever? it makes me nearly cry every time i watch it.

Max Manus, excellent call, I think it's one of the best war films i've seen in a while, small correction, I believe it's norway not finland.

Just recently theres been a new french resistance film out, can't remember the name but trailers looked very promising.

Tears of the Sun (bruce willis)

Saw it in cinema when it first came out, 7+years ago now, i think it was good, always meant to rewatch but never got round to it. Very bloody and some nasty scenes, won't spoil it for you though.

The Pianist definitely gets a mention as it's currently my favourite war movie. Another one I always enjoy is Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, starring a certain David Bowie, who does a very decent job.

I watched Enemy at the Gates the other night on telly, haven't seen it for a while myself, very good movie to watch imo. A Bridge too Far is superb too, full of famous actors. Similarly, The Longest Day.

One of my favourite war movies is Kelly's Hero's with an absolutely brilliant, utterly superb and highly amusing performance from Donald Sutherland as Oddball.

Oddball said:
"Don't hit me with them negative waves so early in the morning. Think the bridge will be there and it will be there. It's a mother, beautiful bridge, and it's gonna be there. Ok?"

"It's a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers!"

"Crazy... I mean like, so many positive waves... maybe we can't lose, you're on!"

"It's a Mark IV... And we've got it by the ass!"

:D
