Metro 2033: £12.98

I think you are required to activate this on Steam (I did with my copy anyway).
This means you get all the benefits of Steam (Acheivements, updates etc), for the price of £12.98 :D

Very tempted but I've been reading about it and I think the whole management system would annoy me. Gas masks, no map only a compass etc

How do people find it?

I tried it out, very atmospheric but it does seem a bit linear when the situation of it would make it such a brilliant game if it was more open, hell as a sandbox game it could be quite good too. Worth £13 since the whole look and feel of the game is brilliant.

You are lead by the hand for most of it (and the compass will point you in the right direction).
The filter change on the gas mask is supposed to be automatic, but it will steam up from time to time due to condensation.

It's not a bad game, but the performance could be better. Lack of advanced options also make the performance/visual quality balance hard to acheive.

Dammit. Paid £30 for this before Easter.

So far, impressions after 10 or so hours...

  • Graphics are very good - as good, if not better than Crysis
  • Runs well on High on my i7/5870 @ 1920x1200 but not quite good enough on Very High
  • Game lacks a bit of polish
  • ...but it's nice to play something a bit different
  • Very linear....but it's not badly handled
  • Quite scary
All in all, well for it for £12.

Ok I might pick it up then, especially if it's got Red Fraction thrown in as well.

Both need steam I'm guessing

I don't think you can activate Red Faction Guerilla on Steam though, which is a real shame :(

Great price for such a recently released game though and thumbs up for being able to activate Metro 2033 on steam

This is one of those games were it could have been so epic but failed in so many areas.
Although its still a great game. Defintely worth the price.

Now all i want is a Sandbox style metro game, that would be epic.

Well maxed out with Standard AA and 4xAF @ 1680x1050 along with a 5870 (stock).
I got average 40fps, which is very playable. And its defintely the best graphical game to date imo.
# Metro 2033 is a gripping, atmospheric first person shooter experience powered by cutting edge technology, featuring full DX10 and NVDIA PhysX support for high-end gaming PCs, to deliver incredible visuals.
Gotta love how gamestation forgot to add DX11 in there :D
