Asus rampage III Extreme

thanks

thanks a lot simulatorman, very nice of u. helios i would also like to thank you i watch a lot of ur videos on ur channel and they are very helpful. about the usb header is there anyway i can get all 4 to work maybe a special connection wire or something ?

only thing stopping me buying it, is the lack of internal usb headders.. Il stick with the classified 760 since the ROG connect feature is a gimmick and i have no use for usb/sata 3 YET.

People on the ASUS forum are saying it appeared in the US and got sold out yesterday with the next lot expected on 03/05.

A new BIOS released today to increase DRAM compatibility and overclocking performance.

Im still chasing updates on stock, I want to place my order too!

How does bios updating on Asus boards work? Its been a long time since I owned one. It was really hard and required the usual boot with a floppy back when I had my MSI S775 boards, but since I got my gigabyte its been extremely easy using their windows flashing utility, plus dual bios to reload the old one if it goes wrong.

Do Asus use similar software in windows to easilly flash the bios? Im obviously hoping that a board this expensive will be easy to flash :)

There are several ways of flashing. The easiest method is to have the .ROM file on a USB stick and connect it to the ROG port at the back. When the PC is turned off, simply press the RG Connect button and it'll do it all for you.

Alternatively you can do it remotely using a laptop as shown here: http://www.vortez.co.uk/contenttell...ampage_iii_extreme_motherboard_review,16.html

There's also the software route but I didn't see the point of using that because it can end up being more risky than the two methods above.

I would strongly advise against ever flashing bios from wthin windows as it is always likely to be prone to failure.Best bet is to flash from the bios flash utility using a usb stick - far safer.

Ive flashed my UD5 using gigabytes software for every revision released and never had any problem.

If it fails, I think it reverts to the backup bios (dual bios thing), but thats never happened.

I just noticed that the Maximus III Extreme is in stock, but these ones still arent :(

I thought both of them were being released at the same time.

iirc, the Maximus 3 Extreme had reviews out way before the Rampage did so i assume it got released earlier. I am still raging about the damn USB headers (or lack of) :@

I coudlnt live with 2 usb ports on my case front panel not working, If they are there they shall work lol... Also its ASUS and their customer service has been questionable in the past.

Just hard wire a USB cable through your case, out the back and plug it into a usb port, problem solved

RIGHT! COULD SOMEONE FROM OCUK PLEASE TELL US WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?
When is this board supposed to be released? because im not going to pre-order it unless i know when the release date is. i find it very hard to believe that the people in the know at ocuk havent got a date of arrival yet. if they havent that makes me think it must be a long way off but they are keeping tight lipped to keep the pre-orders coming in!!! tut tut! lets have a bit of honesty and stop the bull**** rumours flying around about suspected dates. well?

well im getting a bit miffed now as well as i placed my preorder and ocuk have already taken the full funds for this from my card so im paying interest on something i still dont have.

And that was the 2nd April so they have now had the funds for 3 weeks.
