Just thought with this nice weather we are experiencing right now I would get outside and give the inside of the PC a good clean out.

Is it safe? is there extra risk of static?

I was basically asking if there was increased risk of static build up being outside, apologies if this was a silly question but really was'nt expecting Jackass answers. oh well

It should be fine mate, i do it all the time. Just occasionally touch the metal on the side of the case to get rid of any static risk.

I would leave it in the room for 10/20 minutes before turning on to let it equalise with room temperature if doing it outside in the sun. There is always a SMALL chance of condensation with the temp and humidity difference between outside and in.

I hear if you bury your PC in soil, and put water over it, it will grow into a PC-Tree with Nvidia graphic cards as leaves. You might as well give it a punt since you'll be outdoors with the PC anyway.

Middle of a clear field during a thunderstorm is preferable though. Holding on to a 3m metal rod sticking up in the air.

LOL, I've been out on Windermere in the GP14 when the wind suddenly dies and you can hear thunder in the distance. It's less fun that you might imagine sitting on a huge body of water waving a giant aluminium pole in the air.

On the drizzle note, when running a machine, a certain level of humidity and above in the air will actually conduct static, preventing a build up in the machine.

Lol to some of these replies :D

yes its fine, I built my new i7 system out in the sun last weekend and im always air compressing computers for work outside and never had any problems.

(For future ref dont ask these questions in GD you will always get these answers ;) )

I don't remember, maybe a dell, definitely cheap. I think the sunlight messed with the crystals in the display, they overheated and warped the images on the screen.
I guess that's possible, it seems silly that a laptop should break in the sun though, as I imagine there are countries such as Mexico who have far more sun than us in the UK, and I think they'd be pretty annoyed if a laptop could not be used outside!
