Has anybody made this graphics card change, or even a 275/280/285 and noticed a substantial fps increase on this actual game? i can't seem to find any benchmarks anywhere for L4D 2 :(

any help appreciated!

Left 4 Dead 2 should be able to run fine on the 8800GTS tbh but depending on your resolution it would be a worthy upgrade and handle most games at the moment as new releases are usually console ports.

I made the change to a 260 a few years back from a 8800 gts its a worthy upgrade esspecily if you game at higher res.

I never drop below 60 fps with full aa at 1920x1080 in left 4 dead 2.

Left 4 Dead 2 is built on the Source engine. You could max it out on an MX440 64mb.

Regardless, a GTX260 would last you for a while yet, but I would definately not make the change just for L4D2, id be surprised if you noticed any difference over your already capable 8800GTS.

You say that, but I have to run L4D2 on Med - High on my ATI X1900XTX, and still get FPS drops in areas like the park, L4D runs fine though.

Jcb33.

I've used both in L4D2 and can tell you a 260 is a worthy upgrade. However make sure your processor isn't utter crapola first as the source engine loves CPU speed.

I was being hugely flippant, but I'm pretty impressed it stands up that well to an X1900XTX. Just goes to show! 8800GTS will handle it fine. CPU is where your problem lies.
