mmmm i installed the villain ROM and just checked my emails and i have one from Google who think i have purchased a Nexus.

Guess they robbed the ROM from that device then. make you wonder what the hell are HTC doing not delivering a proper hero ROM. makes you wann switch to iphone

Loving 2.1, it's milesssss better than 1.5.

The best thing for me is the new market, i found 1.5 to be rubbish (No screenshots being the main pain) but now it's a much needed improvment.

Just wish HTC didn't take so long so i didn't have to mess about with a custom rom =\

What network are you on? I have a Hero on Orange, I think I may have to downgrade my ROM before I can do anything.

You really are making me want to do this tonight, but I am still a little unsure about all the steps.

Also, when you flash the new rom, do you have to set the message centre number, and APN's etc? Or do you just flash the rom and away you go?

I find the performance when going to a 2.1 ROM is so poor I always revert back to MCR 3.2 and put up with 1.5 :/

Yeah im on Orange, did not have to downgrade the rom first.

No need to update the APN's etc. either, everything was ready and working after the upgrade

Same here mate i can't put up with charging my phone every other day.

HTC Legend is the reason.

A Hero running 2.1 would put it close to, and much cheaper than a Legend.

im running the vilian 5.2rc rom and its much faster than mcr3.2 i do use apps2sd though to save my memory space.

im quite looking foward to the touch slide port to see how that goes.

I'm just trying the Villain rom now. I haven't had time to check that apps2sd is working yet. It is generally a little faster than MCR3.2. I haven't had it long enough to confirm if the battery life is acceptable yet.

I get constant freezes and lag when using Villain 5.2RC.

MCR 3.2 is so much faster on my phone.

Swear even though i hate them i'll go iphone if HTC dont make the upgrade.
They have older phone with newer software on. How pathetic is that?

did you do a full wipe ? , ive just downloaded 5.3 to flash now :cool:

it can have live wallpapers running with sense aswell which is cool.

VillainROM 5.3 Release Version

For me VillainROM 5.2 was faster than Modaco 3.2, which was to be expected since the former is based on a much newer HTC ROM. Now going to try 5.3.

5.3 works acceptably well for me. Few bugs but everything important works fine.

Works spot on for me. I'm shocked how much quicker my phone is running.
few apps i'd like rid of but apart from that i'm not messing now as its running great

EDIT:
Anyone know where the setting to turn off the full screen weather display when you first unlock the phone is?

- Fixed US localisation issue with dialler & people (no more hyphens in the numbers)
- Added OPTIONAL Live Wallpaper addon
- Fixed _ALL_ Streaming issues

Only real difference for me was the ability to use live wallpapers. Something I quickly turned off as it brings the Hero to a complete crawl. Also have Friendstream without the need to install via apk.
