Extended Warranty for TV

Anyone had any success using a 3rd party to extend the warranty on their TV?

I have a new TV coming next week which i'd like to extend the warranty for a couple of years beyond the initial 12 month manufacturers warranty. TV is from Amazon and their warranty is quite expensive so I didn't want to pay that much.

Really just want to be able to get it sorted if it ever has a technical fault for the next few years without costing the earth :)

TV is a Panasonic 42G20 which cost me £840
 
A copy and paste from a post I made on AV Forums earlier this year,

Just a heads up for people who did not know, I was recently supplied a 42G10 via Currys as insurance replacement, which only came with the standard 1 years warranty, unlike the 1+4 years extended warrantythat I had with my 42PZ85 or if you demo'ed or purchased through a Panasonic dealer.Surprisingly I was very reluctant to pay the £260 for Curry's 5 year warranty, but after speaking to Panasonic,s extended warranty department I was informed that you can purchase the extended warranty direct with them, to extend it to 1+4years for £97.06 for a 42 inch screen. Just thought I would let people know this as many people may have brought through Curry's,Comets etc and only have 1 years warranty.

42" = £97.06
50" = £128.34
65" = £407.03

Call them directly on 01344 706723

Very interesting, I think I will be giving them a call :)

Especially good as they're the manufacturer, any problems should be within their power to fix!
 
I guess the £840 you paid was the price for not getting the extended warranty - other places might have been a bit more (John Lewis for example) but you get the 5 years by default.

Certainly a good idea to give Panasonic a ring and see what they can do for ya!

Aye but there's is £1099

£840 + supposed Panasonic 5 yr warranty is only £940 if I can get it :)
 
Unfortunately for price matches it's gotta be stores with the TV in stock and local to a JL store you visit in order to request the price match.

Looking at Amazons current prices if you factor in the cost of their extended 5 years warranty it then makes it more expensive than JL ;)
