there is a seller on ebay selling unlocked AMD athlon 5000 for around £50. Im soo tempted to click buy now but im not sure its going to be reliable since its from hong kong, he does seem to have good feedback and what not.

I wouldnt bother grab a Phenom II chip as it will be a much better upgrade for what you've got, theres also a high success rate on unlocking them aswell.

I wouldn't upgrade from a 5000 to another 5000, get a PhenomII, you'll see a much bigger difference.

i dont mean the unlocked multi, i mean the athlon 5000 that is based on the deneb so basicly its a phenom II 940 with 2 cores disabled.

Have you tried unlocking your current CPU as your signature says it is a 45NM one which means it is Phenom II based.

yeah its a non unlocker, and i did have it at 2.8ghz which was stable for a few months and then backed it down to 2.6ghz for a month now it just bluescreens so now its at stock.
