Hi Guys

I can't wait to get my hands on the GTX 480, every week I look at the website and the ETA has been put back again....

Are we ever going to get our hands on them

I pre-ordered mine a while back

Hay

they pop up from time to time, a couple here & a couple there. it's just a case of sitting tight i'm afraid.

got mine really easily, cancelled my gtx 470 pre order and changed it to a 480 and 6 days later i had one :)

Don't forget the situation was the same with the 5970. Overclockers were very helpful though, as they allowed me to change my order when another brand came into stock. Sure I had to stay on the phone for about 20 minutes (they were swamped with people trying to do the same) but you can't ask for much better than that.

I'm not allowed use of the credit card for another 2 months hopfully by that time GTX480 will be easy or the 6870's will be out or claiming life insurance from a freak accident of my late husband and i'll rename to the black widow :)

re:

It is very disappointing to be let down on at least 5 ETA`S we have had:(

Its beginning to feel like Groundhog day :D

I can understand its not overclockers fault but it must be someones, suppliers / manufacturers fault
Somebody must be giving these false dates.

Cheers

Suspect manufacturer's partners fault. It was the same with the 5870. I think Asus was 6 weeks late to the party with them as well.

nVidia have been giving us false dates for 6 months and they will keep doing so because there are people who will continue to wait and they don't seem to think people can think for themselves.

It really does appear that they're still not in any sort of sizeable production.

Spent pretty much a whole day (Friday) F5'ing various sites and watched some items come into stock. I honestly would have clicked buy and blew upto £440 on one. 470's seemed easier to get hold of than the 480's but I wasn't happy with the makes of the cards that came in (warranty stuff) or found them way over priced by retailers hoping to make a quick buck from people who can't wait.

In the end I bought myself a 2nd hand gtx 295 with 2 years warranty remaining and fermi has gone on hold for me. Will see what comes up in a few months or so.

The 295 at least still beats the 470 in a lot of benchmarks and after selling my 280 will have only cost me £70 so not too bad.

TSMC, the foundry that makes the chips for NV just aren't producing them in enough numbers to satisfy global demand, and of course everyday more orders will be made, so slippage is inevitable.

make a list of your favourite etailers & check them every day, multiple times a day, sooner or later you will trip over one in stock somewhere. just be prepared to put the effort in to get one.

I feel for everyone who has a preorder and still hasnt got a card. I was lucky to get my 480 last Wednesday in a local retailer in London.

I hope everyone's cards comes through soon, its a pretty poor release that there is zero stock any where.

theres 1 Gainward GTX480 showing as in stock at ocuk ;)

Can you get 0% finance on pre orders :p No way would I pay up front for the privilege of getting messed about. It could be months before you get what you paid for.
