Children's Secretary Ed Balls has apologised after been fined £60 for using a mobile phone while driving.
"Although our car has hands-free, I took my phone off the cradle because I did not want to wake the kids."
What. A. Retard.

Not wanting to turn this into too much of a party political rant, but the sooner this current shower of lawless muppets are out of power the better! I don't have time right now to dig it up, but I'd bet good money that Ed Balls voted in favour of this law being passed.

*sigh*

Person uses phone whilst driving shocker. Oh wait, it's a politician.... WHAT A SCANDAL, THE OUTRAGE, THE UNSPEAKABLY ODIOUS ACT!!!11

This. The melodrama around this is remindful of my primary school years when someone got caught eating in class by the teacher. A lot of rah rah rah and artificial 'outrage' until the afternoon news on BBC brings new scandals to be offended over.

He made a silly mistake - weirdly politicians aren't immune to them and I don't expect them to be.

if you choose to lead a high-profile life then you are at the mercy of intense public scrutiny

plus, he was caught this time - who knows how often he actually does it, what's more worrying is that his kids were in the car, putting himself, other motorists and children at risk - hardly a silly mistake

I'm willing to bet high amounts you've been on the phone whilst driving, if you drive.

BUT HE'S A POLITICIAN, WE MUST CRUCIFY HIM FOR THE SMALLEST OF SMALL MISTAKES!!1

you just lost a bet lol

but you're right I am biased because I find him to be quite self-righteous and sycophantic, so it's fitting that his own transgressions are made public

Was walking up to the shops before and saw a driver of 7.5ton lorry on his mobile chatting away and doing at least 40 mph.

Crazy

I do, particularly when they are the people that made and passed such a law, they should be more careful than anyone else.

Most of lifes best lessons are learned by making mistakes. Anyone who has never made a mistake has never lived. The main thing is you must learn from your mistakes.

With the pack mentality of the press' mock indignation when a public figure makes a small error, I wonder how JFK or Churchill would fare in modern times.

Ohnoes, he held a phone while driving...
I agree with Dj_Jestar, there are FAR more important things happening than this. Like some guy picking his nose somewhere or whatever.
