Any one use Asus Express Gate win7

Anyone got this working with win7 64bit? Can't find any drivers for it have googled.

I've only ever used the Express Gate Updater to perform an update on my P5Q Deluxe which runs W7 x64 and had no problems.

Doesn't express gate run outside of the os? So therefore it doesn't matter what os you have?

Saying that, never managed to get it working on mine, Never really had the need for it as windows probably boots up nearly as quick.

I use it. Very handy if you shut down your pc before heading out then realised you forgot to check bus/train/appointment times etc. Mine runs as a splash screen before bootup, and I can change how long it stays there before automatically booting (5 secs in my case). Think it's a bios option somewhere.

express gate just slows boot time a hell of a lot, always keep it disabled.

i use it, its pretty good imo.

not on my pc it doesnt. it auto boots in to windows after a set amount of time (which you can change) if you dont touch the keyboard or mouse, or you can just hit a button and boot to windows manually. however its done, it doesnt slow it down a lot at all.

I would use it, but turns out it doesn't work with AHCI enabled, which I think was the sticking point for my setup since windows was already all installed. There are two types though, some boards have it built directly onto flash memory, others just use the bios to point to a location on the HDD. I may be wrong, but I think the 'on board' solution has now been stopped by Asus.

that rings a bell, yeah.

i wouldnt know about the ahci issue though - i cant use it anyway as my bluray reader throws a fit if i do :rolleyes:

I have the on board chip version and it works really well.

Good if you just want to get some info dead quick and are in a rush

There should be documentation on the ASUS website that will tell you the answer to that question. I suggest looking at the FAQ for expressgate if you can find it.

Just a thought - you may be able to install it on a USB drive and get it to work that way, if you have a large enough one spare. That should negate the AHCI issue.

When you install expressgate, set the drive to install to as your USB drive.

There's plenty of discussions on the net saying it doesn't support AHCI, even on the Asus forums. I have a feeling the FAQ may be in the documentation that comes with the download.
