ASUS GTX4800 +50% faster ! ???

All those saying it's complete bull, where are you basing your judgements from? ASUS aren't a company to make the mistake of advertising something without solid evidence to back those claims.

Yes the card probably has the capacity to get a 50% increase when overclocking, but it would undoubtedly generate a lot of heat, so watercooling would be a necessity at least.

Except if the voltage tweak software doesn;t let you select a 50% faster speed, how can that stack up?

Secondly, I can beleive it with the 5850 as it had such a low core speed but a gtx480 would need to run at 1050Mhz. The best I have seen overvolted under water is 950Mhz so far. So even water isn;t going to save Asus with their claim on a gtx480. I reckon they just used the same stickers as the 5850 boxes.

I can confirm that the Asus 480 overvolts exactly the same amount with the Asus tool as it does with the MSI tool. So far I cant see any bonus to having the Asus card over others in terms of volt modding. I had hoped that the Asus card would have a special bios which would allow high volt modding, but it appears it doesnt.

It's a poor quality image. If you see it in hi-res, or the actual box, you'll see it doesn't say '50% Faster' - it says '50% Toastier'. :)

It has a warrenty that covers it ;)

Just.... no.

Assuming you get to play around with the voltages, these will not clock -any- better than other makes if reviews are any indication. It's just a marketing stunt, we've been clocking stuff using volt tweaks way before they made it an advertised 'feature'.

Also, my Asus HD5770 CUcore has the -exact- same sticker, its a generic thing they do at the moment. Indeed, this would apply to the 480 even less then the AMD offerings, these things run toasty on stock, let alone overvolted.

i think they actually mean that it will overclock 50% more than a card without the voltage tweek.

so if you could get 100Mhz without the tweek you could get 150Mhz with it hence a 50% higher overclock.
