if your laptop can't handle the UI, I can't see the use in having a games launcher open in the first place

It can run some of the older games no problem, games such as Abe's Odyssey.

The UI is just about usable but so sluggish moving between screens and scrolling.

Well, it is a six year old laptop at the moment so yeah, I probably do need to upgrade considering it even has trouble opening some websites but I just can't afford it at the moment. I have promised to buy myself a new one if I get onto a Masters course though so here's hoping.

Christ it's a game installer, come community tool, not a molecular impact modeller. There's no reason why it shouldn't run perfectly fine on a reasonable machine surely?

So apart from flashy graphics, what has actually been improved functionality wise?

hehehe I'm not boycotting steam lol. It's just something I'll have to get used to, seems an unnessasry update to me. I suppose it dumbs it down even further for the retarded 13 year olds. In my day we had to use All seeing eye to launch games and stuff, find clan matches on irc, now it's all xbox live party groups :/

And do we get the one actually useful feature a lot of folks have called for? Friend names/notes? ie: So you can allocate a (real) name to a friend and put some notes against them? Bet we don't. But I bet we get loads of really useful graphical bloatage...

If has some are speculating, this conincides with the Mac release too, I would suspect closer to the beginning of the day incase issues arise etc.

some games needed to do this when the beta started, some dodgy integration screw up probably. is it actually downloading, or just saying it is?
