Is anyone on here using Pinnicle Studio 14 and editing HD Video, I'm having issues editing 720P HD video off my mobile phone and 1080p off my camcorder. It's a little bit laggy while editing and really slows up when a transition is added.

Anyone having a simular issue ?

PC should be more then enought to edit HD,

Core i7 920 @ 3.2, 6GB DDR3 Ram, ATI 1GB 4870HD, Multiple HDD for video, render, OS.

Using Pinnacle Studio 14 Ultimate i need to edit my HD footage and then save it as Mpeg2 format at 1280x720. Then i can put it straight onto DVD and the quality is really good. If i was to save the HD footage straight onto DVD then the resulting footage would be jerky and very poor quality ... so maybe Mpeg2 is the way to go ....

what do you mean laggy? Pinnacle Studio is a dog of a program but still the fastest way I can edit footage...

The lag happens when you add a transition or split video mainly but can happen at other times too. It's like a delay and another issue is that often i cannot preview the video or play it back, i have to shut studio down open it and try again. Just seems very buggy with HD video and takes ages to do most tasks.

erm...buggy, that's pinnacle studio all over mate...like I said, it's the fastest way for me to edit videos, but that's because I'm used to it, otherwise it's a POS

I know yer but i like it 2, what else is relativley easy to use and pick up ? it just does seem to like HD video !

I haven't really looked around to be honest, I just get used to Studio's bugs and work round them. In that price range there doesn't seem to be that much available with it's features, but I shall have a look...

Does anyone know of any alternatives to studio 14 that i can edit HD video in. This is driving me crazy, all i want to do is edit some video, just the basics nothing fancy - I've tried edius 5 and its OTT for my needs !

Yes 2 products to check out is premiere elements and Cineform Neoscene.

Cineform will convert the AVCHD footage into a more editable format to edit in.

I tried rendering my HD footage before i edited it, rendered it to MPEG4 1080p and then edited it after and it seemed a lot better, if not time consuming !

just means i have to drag all my footage onto the timeline, render it all then edit it after its rendered and render it again after completing the movie.

This was in Pinnacle Studio 14 HD Collection ultimate

NeoScene will do that for you and only take 10-20 mins depending on your PC.

What does it look like when compared to Studio ? Can you add effects, transitions, burn to dvd and alike or is it just a conversion/rendering program , do you use it yourself ?

and then the idea is that i drop that converted video into Studio 14?

Its a shame that there is such a delay and lag while trying to edit HD, i just wanna make some movies !

Has NS solved the issue for you?

There is a 7 day trial so give it a go. Yeah although with Adobe PP CS5 coming out AVCHD isnt a problem. We'll have toi wait and see on that one!

So does Adobe PP CS5 work straight away with AVCHD with no issues?

Pinnacle claims to but simply does not, HD on tape is fine but off HDD or Mem card as a file is a no no

Its meant too but its also £700.

Download the trial of premiere elements and Cineform Neoscene and give that a test.

For me find Nero vision xtra (10) to be excellent for video editing (1080p and 3840x1080 videos) . I used to use pinnacle but I think the nero, expecially the new one is way better. It doesnt have as much transition effects as pinnacle studio though, but its still a lot

Also the export formats are second to none. avi, mpg, mp4, wmv, exact resolution and bitrate control...cant find any better

Does it let you edit avchd or mpeg4 HD video straight of the camera?, pinnicle just really lags and you have to wait a age for it to render while you edit. I did however turn background rendering off and things were better. Just effects and video preview was affected, We've got 2 of These really powerfully pc's and they both do the same thing.
