Just need to knwo where I stand with this but after my 3 week holiday at the end of June, i'm planning to hand in my notice (1 month period ) when I come back there is nothing they can do to stop pay can they?

The only thing that may do so is if you've used more holiday entitlement than you've earnt at that point, if your company calculates holiday that way on leaving.

I think I would have used possibly 70-80% of my holiday at that point when I hand in my notice. I suppose the only way to find out is to enquire with HR.

Yeah if you have used over your pro-rata holiday entitlement for however much of that year you have worked, then you will owe them the difference in money. So a simple example would be if you had 24 days holiday, they would work it out as 2 days per month. So if after 6 months of the holiday year, you left but had taken 15 days holiday, you would owe them 3 days, one way or another.

Why not hand in your notice before you go so that you only have to work a week when you get back?

You earn so much holiday entitlement per month you work - your company can choice when your entitlement year starts and ends.

For example if your contract states your entitled to 24 days per year, you accumiliate 2 days per completed month.

For example : If you last working day is after 4 months of working into the holiday year period, you have earnt 8 days holiday, if you have taken less than 8 days the company you work for legally owes you the pay for the shortcoming, which should be paid in your last paycheck, if you have taken more than 8 days pay then they are entitled to deduct the additional days above the 8 days you have taken from your last paycheck to balance it out.

Because that adds to his problem:confused:

True, i have booked this holiday at the start of the year and I can technically do this but I have some remorse and made some good friends / colleagues I dont want to stress out.

Its just management I'm annoyed and which prompt me to hand in my notice.

As above. Check when your holiday year starts (not necessarily calendar year - ours starts in May) and you should be able to work out how much you'd owe from that.
