How hard can be it be to sell a car :/

I always find it annoying when you're the 1st to look at a car and it's not worth what the seller thinks it is. You make a optimistic offer and they won't budge from their original misguided figure. They won't even haggle towards a sensible figure.

Then sure enough the advert comes tumbling down, some people just can't re-evaluate on the fly.

Can we not have an argument about what the best type of car is please?
I view sport coupes as the best types of car, I'm more at home in one than I am even in a normal A-B hatchback as far as comfort and fun goes.

Anyway, been offered an e36 part-swap now :O
Plus need to call 2 guys back, but being a bit lazy this morning

Fair enough, but you made it out to be a lol offer, when most would consider an E34 520i to be a better nicer car than an old £600 Celica. I know which i'd rather have!

The E36 sounds good, although at this budget i'd imagine its a poor one?

Ahh, so you're the lad on the MR2Roc forums too........... I'm the one having the big chew on with the insurance company :D

Oooh, might finally sell it.
Had someone come round who seemed genuinely interested in it, but is not getting paid until next week so will come back then (and is prepared to pay the £700 for the car with 6 months tax on it).
Also have someone else who is waiting on some money and is prepared to probably pay £700 for it.

I might finally get that MR2 soon :D

What sort of **** goes to look at an inexpensive car without enough/any money?

Are you sure he was genuinely interested and not just pretending to be interested in order to save the awkwardness of saying "I don't want your car"?

A guy who needs a car, due to his current one starting to pack up but can't get it until he gets his pay end of month (or start of next month)?
It is an understandable position to be in for many people ... and he was an alight guy, late 20s early 30s I'd guess.

Same story for another guy I've been talking to, who hasn't come to look at car but comes across as someone who is actually interested.

Being able to get a sense from people of whether they want something or not is not that hard, and this guy was happy to wait until he can pay for car and understood that I may sell it in the mean time (as he said, try to keep it for me but I know how it is with cars and that you may sell it before I can get it).

It seems to me most of you either view everyone as trying to tyre kick (even though a tyre kicker is very obvious) or ... I don't know the or..

EDIT: When I bought my SW20 the owner held it for 3 days for me on just a handshake (no deposit) until I came back and paid in full

EDIT2: My polishing did pay off, dude was impressed with the shininess of an 18 year old car.
