Does anyone know when the Audi S-Line trim was introduced on the Audi TT?

I'm looking at a 2003 Audi TT for my mum and it's advertised and badged up as an "S-Line", but I didn't think they were introduced that early.

parkers indicate it was available from launch. But we all know how reliable parkers is

most help i can be i'm afriad.

was it not Early 2002? with the facelift.

I asked on the TT forums and apparently it was introduced in 2001, until 2002. Audi then introduced many/all of the S-Line features onto the facelift models anyway, making many of the S-Line owners pretty angry about it.
So it looks like the 2003 TT I was looking at for my mum has been badged up as an S-Line. It's not a problem because it's the facelifted model which has all of the S-Line features anyway, but I don't like it when people advertise their cars as "special edition" when it isn't.

Audi landed themselves in hot water again in late 2001 when they launched the TT S-Line special edition, a version that boasted bigger wheels, uprated suspension and a few styling tweaks. Charging over £30,000 for this car and promising that only 200 would be built, they subsequently introduced many of the S-Line 'exclusive' features onto the mainstream TT range and were then forced to refund many irate S-Line customers their premiums.

What spec are you looking for and budget? I tend to keep my eye open on the TT market so I know what mines worth and will let you know if I see anything.

I've been looking at the older 225's for a while so I will follow this with interest.

Is £7k enough to pick up something decent in your view?

£7k should get you an early 225BHP coupe in excellent condition, particularly if you are not too fussy about colour (silver is significantly cheaper than blue / red / black). Make sure that the cambelt has been changed, and that it has a full service history including Haldex and Audi longlife oil.

Make sure you factor in the associated running costs of a 9 year old turbocharged car if/when it goes wrong.

That would be helpful, thanks.

She wants the 225BHP Coupe, budget is around £8.5k. Ideally 2003 or newer with less than 70k on the clock.
She wants it in either blue, grey or avus silver with cream interior; I've only seen a few over the last few weeks but they've all been the other side of the country.
She doesn't like the grey or black interior.

What did the 2003 facelift bring to the party?

£8.5k is a tight budget to get all that, to get one in mint condition you are looking at £9-10k. As an example I have an 03 plate 225 in black with black leather and regularly get offered over £9k from TT specialist dealers.

Your best best would be a silver TT with the cream interior as the blue, black and red cars with the black, grey or red interior seem to hold their price the best.

I'll keep my eye open.

Thanks!

Off hand I am not sure of all the changes as I only looked at post facelift. The changes weren't massive though.

Off the top of my head
- Changed front grill design
- Different shape wing mirrors
- slightly different steering wheels
- RS4 alloys
- silver headlight inserts instead of black

You generally wont find a cream interior with lighter colours - people dont chose it and many manufacturers simply wont offer it as a colour combo. Cream and silver is a combination I have never seen on a TT, ever. I doubt it even exists.

Light paint tends to get paired with darker interiors, and darker paint with lighter interiors. Blue is as light as you'll get with a cream interior, generally.

I thought that would be the case. She's mostly interested in the darker blues though, specifically the Moro blue. I think I'll have to tell her that it's unlikely she's going to find exactly what she's looking for.
