Any news on weather intel will bring its 32nm cpus to the lga 775 motherboards? Weather its the i3/5/7 series or the old core 2 duo.

Thinking of upgrading my friend pc which has a old celeron D but will wait if there is news of 32nm coming this year for lga 775.

Unfortunately, Intel can't bring i3/5/7 to the s775 platform as they work in a very different way. On these new chips, the memory controller is onboard the chip, while the s775 platform had the memory controller on the motherboard. This is one of the many differences that prevents a Core ix processor coming older boards.

As for a 32nm respin of Core 2 parts - it is possible. However, going by what intel has done in the past - I wouldn't expect this to happen. Far more likely (and I think this is borne out by the most recent roadmap) is that Intel will entirely retire the s775 platform and introduce new i3 and i5 parts to provide chips for the budget sector.

What motherboard does your friend have? If its compatible, a second-hand Q6600/6700 would be a great chip to buy.

He has a g31m-es2l,it says on the box it support 45nm core 2 duo so theres no incompatibility problems i dont think.

He doesnt need a quad processor,he uses his pc mostly for watchign youtube videos, checking news on web and playing silkroad.

However he likes to use 2-3 silkroad clients at one time so on the celeron D 3ghz its running at 100% all the time at usually the pc shuts off if u try to look at somethign on the web.

I will probably buy him a E3300 celeron and overclock it like i did on my old machine to 3.33ghz.

Just a quick question, would buying a quad core and then running 3 silkroad clients be used by the 4 cores,or is it 1 core per each client or is it all generally shared?

There is nothing on the roadmap i am afraid... Looks like the LGA775 Quads are going eol over the next 2 quarters and the pentium series going eol at the end of the year...
