Strange topic this, but as a single guy in his own home. I am not 'sure' of what colours go.

Have just decorated the dining room at home. Have put a dado rail up and painted the walls/ceililng as you can see.

Do you think that goes ok or not? I think it is ok. But before finishing I want to be 100% happy. So what do you think.

Ignore the carpet, will replace with a new one soon, not sure what colour to go for for the carpet either.

Do aire your views.

Not a combination of colours i would choose either but if you are happy with it, that's what matters. Can you take some pics of the rest of the dining room fixtures i.e. cabinets, sink, dining table, chairs, doors etc?

Also if you have a big TV take a picture of that and post your address, it'll help us make up our mind, I'm still not sure but would like to see it reflected in the huge LCD screen.

Dont have a TV in there, its the dining room Halfmad?

I wanted something dark at the bottom as my dogs bed is there and before it was 'cream colour' walls and he marked it when he brushed up against it.

I am tempted perhaps, hence this post of changing the top 'yellow' colour, but what colour would go ?

Ummmmm... It's.... Lovely....!

Why post up two practically identical pictures though?!

If you're wanting to change the yellow, then pick something neutral. Two different colours rarely go, brown and yellow never... It's a lot easier to offset a colour against white/off white.

Is it me or is the ceiling sloping? and the carpet is a bit dodgy behind the dog basket.

Not keen on the yellow personally, but the brown bits and the carpet go well.

Yellow and brown lol! No offence but it's awful! Just paint it all a pale cream or something. Just because there's a dado rail doesn't mean both sides need to be different colours.

Feel free to ignore me though as I have never decorated any interior.

The dado rail is a nice touch, Im not keen on the two colours together, it reminds me of the brownies(Girl Guides), but thats just my opinion.

If it were me and I would change either the top or bottom one to match better (and avoid repainting the whole room) such as painting the yellow a really light browney-grey. Or paint the bottom half a darker shade of yellow, Sort of regency style.

I would got for a deep red on the lower (match in the terracota on the chairs, but a deeper earthier red) and light cream ontop.
Only thing is red may not go with what appears to be a red carpet.

yellow was better.........just kidding;)

that looks nice , when you get a new carpet it will look even better , for the carpet i would go for a lighter colour?

is this the room you would normally eat in if so i would get a wood floor , then if you spill anything on it you want stain it?

wood floor is gonna cost more though!
