its this simple I can have 2 gtx260 on SLI or 2 ATI 5770 on crossfire and there is no option to spend the money on a better card as I am being given one or the other from a friend who works for a large IT company lets say a couple of PC are being upgraded so what is my best choise I do have a crossfire MB at the moe but I can get a SLI MB if needed. which will give me the best performance I know how big and power hungry the 260's are.. some one just tell me i cant decide and only have 2 days left to make my mind up..
thanks
Dean

I'd imagine performance wise there wouldn't be much between these.I'd go for the 2 5770s as well seeing as they're newer technology.

you can't go wrong with the 2 GTXs either though if you can get them for cheaper somehow.

im pretty sure 5770's would be better in the long run but idk i 260's are pretty damn quick in current games.. :P try find some benchmarks tbh :o

If you can get a second GTX260 cheap the performance is hard to beat at the price point... however... you already have a crossfire capable motherboard - and the P35 chipset is pretty solid... it would be sheer madness to change that for an LGA775 nFarce board just for SLI*... so go with the crossfire.

* Exception being the EVGA 7x0 F.T.W. but even then thats a lot of upheaval changing boards and reinstalling windows, etc.

Good point - the second slot will run at 4x in crossfire - increasing load times in games and decreasing top end performance by around 15% (on average).

its not that I am getting them cheap I am gettting them for free put I can only have one or the other so its 2 * 5770 or 2 * gtx260 but its not going to cost me a penny so its just what will be the best to go for.
and if I do go with sli can any give me a clue to a good MB for my q6000 quad

Thats another issue - there are NO good nForce boards for the Q6600, most of them struggle to supply enough amperage for any clock speed over 3gig stable. You could go for a P45 board with the unofficial SLI hack but theres no guarantee of it working or continuing to work with newer nVidia drivers if it does work.

For non DX11 games the GTX260 are a fair bit better but it would be far simpler and somewhat better future wise going with the 5770 cf.

lol still hung up on that...

fact is on the best drivers for each, the GTX260 is moderatly faster in most cases... don't start pointing to reviews using 169.21 drivers thats not a good comparison.

Only because most of the reviews are done on old database results v the 5770 on latest drivers. If they bothered to redo the older nVidia cards on latest drivers it would be a different story.

Utter rubbish and you know it LOL. Stop kidding yourself Rroff.

Just pick a GPU review, any one, but they seem to have remover the slower cards and the GTX260 is not included in the later reviews. Test setup included take a look at the rounds ups.
