Avatar - Bluray.

When watching films I tend to see through the special effects. As I result I wasn't impressed and had strange feelings of deja vu throughout the whole film. The story seemed oh so familiar, almost as if it's been stolen from somewhere...
 
I'll have to go grab this from HMV tomorrow as it's the same (£14.99) as on Amazon - shame I don't have a nice 1080p TV to watch it on ... my 2408 will have to suffice for now!

Not seen the film yet and I'm not really holding my breath.

@Damien. Remind me. What was this experience you had during a Batman film? You cried knowing that Heath-what's-his-name died ensuring the film would at the very least get a mention at the oscars? Just out of interest. I turned off during the badly filmed fight in the car park, what? 15 mins into the film.

Not everyone has a 3D TV.

Many people saw it 3D at the cinema so can accept 2D at home on a smaller screen.

You're commenting on the difference between 2D and 3D without having watched the film in either. Fail.
 
I'm commenting on all those people who'll be moaning in 5 months time over the fact that they had to double dip because they didn't see sense to wait for the 3D version. I've not seen the film yet, so what?

A 3D sterioscopic release won't need a 3D tv.

People are buying the 2d Version because they don't want to buy an expensive 3d TV and possibly a 3d blu-ray player (if they don't own a PS3)
 
rancid-a, its only £15, we can double dip and you commenting on people waiting for the 3d version when I doubt anyone here has a 3d tv or dvd players. No doubt the 3d version with be twice as much on release anyway and you my friend still won't have watched it and no-one will be in any hurry to buy it until its in the sales because it'll be old news.
 
brilliant on blu-ray, just wish amp could do full HD audio.
Would liked to have som extras but oh well, this is 1 of those films that's now a benchmark for others
 
Well just watched the Blu-Ray with my Dad and we were utterly blown away. Had the sound pumping on a 5.1 set up and a 32" TV. The TV is 720p max but it still looked incredible! My old man is 70 and I don't think I've ever seen him quite as amazed by a film before. I was actually really pleased to see that. He hadn't seen it before and I was deliberately trying to keep what the film was about a mystery so he received the full wow factor.

It's a perfect transfer and if anything I preferred seeing it on a HDTV in that sort of epic quality than the cinema in 3D. I am easily distracted and even in an ideal screening I will notice things like fire exit lights, people's heads covering up 1cm of the image etc.

Seeing it in a home environment made me realise quite how far out there this film is too. I don't think anything is going to come close to matching it for years, if ever. The battle scene at the end is beyond epic.
