Is anyone using the above board or the ud7 in a xfire config with a card for physx too ?

i need to know if the card used for physx fits in on the board in the 3rd pcie slot and doesnt hit the usb sockets on the bottom row

it hits the usb sockets and the power to the mobo

edit: forgot to say it will depend ont he the size of the card in the 3 slot i cant fit another 587o as an example

Seems a really bad xfire board in general. Sockets are very close together and the third PCI-e covers all the motherboard headers if the gcard is big. It means if I want xfire I have to get rid of my wireless card too.

Yeah ill never buy another gig board for this reason, very crap board for xfire on the flip side for a single card user would be great.

at first i thought it would be an issue for xfire
but not anymore
my temps have only risen by 2 degrees
the only thing i needed to get as i couldnt use my old one was a sound card

sorry mate but there not a chance there the top card is 2 c hotter on xfire on UD5 on air with stock coolers i would re check mate to be safe :). i Have had 2 GTX280, 2 5770 and the 2 5870 and have all been 6-12c increase on the top card. Hope you get it sorted though

AL
thanks for the concern but i can assure you that my temps have only risen by 2-3 degrees
yes the top card is hotter and idles at around 31 with the bottom card at 28-29
after an hour of gamming the temps have shot up, but again there is only a gap of no more than 5 - 6 degress
I will try and get some shots up to show you

Ah that explains it yeah load sound about right 5-10c hotter is the avg. Idle temps not even worth mentioning :D, my office is tiny and i close the door so not to wake the baby so room temps get into the 30's sometimes hence my poor top card but my new rampage 3 should sort that :)
Have yout though about using mx3 on just the top card did it on my 5770 set and and the cards ran at the same temps on loads 73c :p

I'm in the same predicament, but with the x58a-ud3r. With the other PCI slot SOOOOO close to the cooler on my 5850, if i added another would it be safe? under load the 5850 is about 63C

yes its safe my 5870 games at 80-85c load in such a warm room. AMD said that the cards will throttle at approx 95c to protect themselfs so your fine but the cooler the better ofc :)

Cheers, can't believe how close these slots are, don't gigabyte think, i mean its all good having the slots but if they're covered up or so near that the cards with be almost touching, not good. Will have to give a x-fire a try though, if something bad happens, sell both of them and get a better single card in the future.

I've not really thought about adding new paste really Al, for the simple reason that the top card after a sesh on bc2 or track mania is only at 71-3, my fan profile is set quite high and the additional fan in the antec 1200 is blowing directly on to the cards.

our rigs are almost the same what your fan speed/profle look like can you do a screeni? i think i remember you saying you use afterburner too

Snip[/URL]

with is profile AL i have the middle fan at the front of the case set to 1/4, and i have an Akasa Apache mounted in the additional internal fan adaptor, this is almost dead centre to the cards pushing more air over them

 that must make a fair racket but would explain the good temps :D. I spent a good day plotting all the fan point to give the best on msi to get the the fan speed under 50% as i feel this is where it gets a lttle loud for. Ill post the profile later tonight you can copy and try it if you like. your max temp on the top card should be approx 81c but it will much much quiter :D

its not that noisy mate, by the time the game kicks in
noise isnt really an issue for me when it comes to keeping the rig cool
yeah post the profile up whan you can and ill have a look
the big player in this setup i have here is the front mid intake fan set at 1/4 and the additional internal fan, i forgot all about the fans being able to be adjusted on the front ! lol
