First gig is tonight, I am going tomorrow with family for dads birthday, never been to seen any sort of comedian let alone one in a 23,000 seater arena.

Anyone else going to see him this year or next.

He's brilliant!

This should be a 100% new material considering he's been using his, old, although extremely funny, material for many many years now.

If this has old material then it's over for him. I can see pretty much everyone being ****ed off with him.

Don't even watch him on tele any more. Only have to see him once to know exactly what the next gig will be like. He just recycles old material over and over again, I think there's about 4 DVDs out now featuring 4 different nights, but with exactly the same jokes.

To me, someone just shouting loudly in a Bolton accent, looking around then asking "What's all that about then!? Eh!? Eh!?" is about as funny as a cancer relapse.

Phoenix Nights was brilliant, however most of that was actually written by Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice, not him.

And that garlic bread thing got old very fast.

Going to see to see him tomorrow night too. I'm not his biggest fan (loved Phoneix Nihgts though) but thought I'd treat the folks as they love him. It'll be interesting to see some new material (catchphrases) before he milks it for a few years.

It would seem like that if you keep watching the same show over and over! He has only done two tours, it's just they keep being released over and over (whether it's his doing, or his management just trying to make cash!).

1st tour in 2000 had one DVD, 2nd tour in 2003 had two DVDs of different nights (one Bolton, one Manchester), and in 2007 they released a 'best of'.

I'd be fairly confident the new tour will be new.

I went to the first night last night at the MEN! :D

Overall good stuff, especially the first half (particularly a cracking section about Sky+ that had me doubled over! :D) but for me I wanted more recent observations as opposed to more stuff from his childhood/family!
A large portion of the 2nd half was to do with misheard lyrics in songs which was his staple material in the early parts of his career according to his book!

Still funny stuff but knowing it was (for the most part) old material spoiled it a little for me!

I guess the expectations were a little high but overall a decent show! (especially given there were a few hiccups with it being opening night!)

ps. the missus enjoyed half an hour of Risk Astley as the warm up too!! :p
