GRRRRR what a night............

1 - Wheel bearing
2 - Put more petrol in it

You should try running a 40 year old car and then jumping it around an off road track. Now that created problems.

Hi Guys

I thought I would share my current driving woes/excitement for tonight

---Problem 1---
A couple of weeks ago the car started making a mid pitch whine when i hit 40mph and would dissapear at about 50mph (i think this is more down to the tyre and wind noise over powering it). But this is since been getting louder.
Probably gearbox noise, I wouldn't worry.

Also ive noticed a knocking noise when going over some bumps and round some round abouts coming from the front left .Any idea what this is? I hope these are associated some how?
Very likely a bottom ball joint, MOT fail if it is.

P.s. The front left alloy was damaged last year thanks to a pot hole. new alloy and tyre required.
Alignment's probably none too good either.

---Problem 2---

Today I thought ill go for a late night session at the gym at work. So i parked up as I always do and did my 1hr work out. Came out to my car turned the ignition and it just sat there turning over :(. By this time security had come over and asked if i was ok. As i had parked my car on a slight slope leaning towards the drivers side they helped me push it onto a flat spot where I left it and had a cup of coffee. Came back after 10minutes and it fired straight up. So what on earth happened here?

The fuel light had been on and off all the way to the gym but I had driven the car all the time like that and never had an issue. And it drove there perfectly fine.
How big a slope, and in what direction?

the starting issue

on those "older" clios, they eventually pick up a fault where the car no longer recognises the imobiliser chip in the key. youll put the key in the ignition, turn it to the on position and the imobiliser light will be flashing really fast. the car wont start

try again in a few seconds, the light goes out and all is good. cant remember how it was fixed though

Hows the coolant level? On my old 306 the coolant was running a bit low and I parked on a slope and this caused the coolant level sensor to think there was no coolant and the engine would just turn over. Pushed it on to the flat and it started right up. I then refilled the coolant and parked back on the slope and it was fine.

Irrelevant and pure luck.

There is no system in place to prevent the car starting due to low coolant level.

Update, the car is in the garage at the moment. Mechanic agrees parking it on a slope may not of helped. The funny thing was the car has always been happy running that low for another good 20miles or so for the 3 years ive had it guess ive never parked it on slope like that. There currently investigating the noise.

I realise a 8 year old car of that age is going to have problems just a shame it does it during the middle of the night miles from home.

Possible intermittent issue with fuel pump? Would account for whining noise and starting issue (but not the knock).

See the whinning noise when it started making the noise I pressed the clutch down to see if it stopped but it carried on making the noise so its definatly something after the clutch, but im not an expert at car mechanics

Well the car is done and those who guessed wheel bearing was right also a front left anti roll bar mount and broke.

Dont know the bill yet as just waiting for the car to be delivered.
