Vice City needs a CD on steam??!!

I bought GTA Vice City yesterday in the sale and to my supprise when I launched it today It asked for a CD to be inserted! I have contacted Valve and am waiting on a reply. I can find very little info on this online. Has anyone else had the same problem?

I have tried launching from steam games list and from folder with no luck either way... Has anyone else had the problem?

Have you tried an integrity check of the download? You might want to try to download it again?

Yep, right click on the launcher and delete local content then re download

I have re-downloaded but still get the same message. Any Ideas?

Maybe get the CD?

Sorry bad joke.. I feel for ya. So here's some useful advice. Post on the Steam forums to see if anyone else is having the same problem? It'll be quicker than waiting for someone on here to buy the game only to discover the same problem.

Do you have any disk emulation software like demon tools on your pc which might be conflicting with the DRM on the game?

ooohhh that is a point. I have virtual clone drive running. I will try running it with that shut down and will report back

I have been playing Vice City just fine with the latest Slysoft Virtual CloneDrive installed. :confused:

try right clicking on the game and within the drop down options you should see something called 'view cd key'

works fine for me,use magic iso/disk for your virtual drive tbh

nothing detects it

That's not really going to help when it asks for a cd not a key is it :/

Especially as vice city on steam doesn't even have a key.
