Haha, really shows what sort of market

I don't blame sega CA have always had poor fan relations.

Look at sports interactive - who do football manager - they are also published by sega and they don't do anything stupid.

Didn't have a problem with the first three games, perhaps a little AI improvement could have been implemented but fan mods fix that. I think the newer engine is possibly just too bloated and needs re-working (I haven't bought Medieval 2 or Empire\Napoleon myself). Besides, FM's scope is fairly narrow... whereas Total War is simulating a complex web of politics\war\religion\economy etc through the middle ages and into colonial times.

Even WOW is doing things similar! you can get an in game mount for 20 euros and even in game pets! But theses people on their lame mounts usually get ripped on and macro spammed

You're already paying a monthly fee and Blizzard aren't exactly known for there credibility as they probably have a hand in every gold seller, in the case of WoW, they know there are some insane ott fans so why not just milk them? Its not as if they complain ><

And i really wouldn't mention DA:O in line with TF2. Both Stone Prisoner and Wardens Keep were released with the game, Prisoner intended to be in the game that wasn't ready in time for shipping yet curiously was ready in time to make everyone who didn't pre-order pay for it :p Wardens Keep was you're average DLC that came free or i'd never pay for it since it has no impact outside of its own very minor storyline. Return to Ostagar looked like it was knocked together in 5 minutes it was that half arsed.

Micro transactions in game are all over SOE MMOs now like a plague, DLC for FPSs are no different. Its when they become essential like a better gun or bigger tank, that they take the wee wee.

It honeslty wont be long before ValVe start to charge for theirs its still uncharted waters for FPS on the PC platform but it is potentially mega money !

I do hope not, valve's the only company i know of that has the best interest of the consumer in their mission statement..

I wonder if they will in the future start charging for the use of STEAM, as i've learnt that when things usually become popular and successful, the company decides to try and take advantage of you.

they would have to offer/give a little more than they do for people to pay for the service.

at the moment i don't see any reason why anyone would want to pay them so they can buy games from them...especially if you take into consideration that their prices are usually a little higher than pretty much everywhere else.
people already pay that bit extra for the convenience of having all their games in one place.

"Pretty up your soldier with BFBC2 DLC 4/20/2010,

.....players will be able to dress their soldiers with new outfits and weapons, becasue the most important thing on the battlefeild is making sure you stand out. Available tomorrow....."

HAHAHAHA!

Well I think that pretty much sums it up nicely. This thread is just full of people wanting something for free, nothing more.

amen sir, we have got to realise people spend time on making new DLC = wages = money required. so why the heck people moan about paying a small amount for some more content is ridiculous, its not like you HAVE to buy it.

just be grateful us FPS'ers dont have to pay a monthly fee like our fellow MMORPG people have to, who i believe had to pay $25 on top for some magical horse the other month :)

People moan because of the way it is implemented.

In concept it's great, more content, small payments. Awesome.

In reality it's more like content clearly withheld from original game, pay extra to get what should have been in the game, or it is done with direct and deliberate nerfing of the game to prevent the PC community working with the game as we have done for years.

Sometimes it makes sense, like a racing game say, 6 months later release some new cars, new models that weren't out or finalised when you sent the game off for print. That's good.

When it's a racing game releasing a pack of cars that probably should have been in the game anyway it just stinks of an attempt to gouge more money for nothing.
