Interesting for those who it may effect

By pretending to be the fake ICPP Foundation (icpp-online.com), the ransomware locks down the user’s desktop issuing a “Copyright violation: copyrighted content detected” message, which lists torrent files found on the infected PC, and forces the user to pay $400 for the copyright holder’s fine, emphasizing on the fact that “the maximum penalties can be five years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines.

Some people will fall for it, it looks proper so it must be real is their attitude. These people just do what ever their computer tells them to :/
 
I think I got mine from watching the simpsons online. My AV was turned off for something I was doing earlier and forgot to re-enable it.


Nerved me for a second then realised what it was and got rid.
 
I don't really understand how it's possible to get a virus in this day and age.

Given that Windows now has so many "click to proceed" alerts that arise from UAC, the average userbase is now trained/conditioned to click 'Yes' to any and all alerts that their PC shows up.

Infected web page advert, dodgy twitter feed, truncated URL service to malicious page - any of these + 1 dialogue box on some dodgy javascript code and voila. Simples.
